Yup, I believe like a spoilt brat, the US has lost its right to independence.

We'll keep California as is to make movies and for general amusement. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I think the rest of the world should get their armies together and invade, seriously... Its the only way.

I hear you all and understand where you are coming from, but keep this in mind.

All of the worlds Stock Exchanges are intertwined.
If you cause one to fall into utter ruin the others will domino and fall as well.
Why do you think other countries Stock Exchanges pour tons of their own money into other countries Stock Exchanges if they see that countries market is about to crash horribly? It’s because they know if that countries Exchange falls the others will domino after it.
Money has intertwined us all our countries.

Again, I understand where you are coming from, and I am not justifying the actions of our leaders, but such actions would only create global destruction.

We shall fight them on the beaches! (Kyra, I'm totally kidding you realise... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> or am I?)

Remember to check under your bed for them terrorists! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Womble

I knew you were serious / kidding. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

But I didn't know if the rest of our community here knew how intertwined each of our economies really were.

If one Exchange falls into utter ruin, the others will too.
Maybe not immediately, but they will fall.

Why do you think the terrorists targeted our world trade center buildings?
To crash our Exchange and thereby causing all of the other countries Exchanges to crash also.

There was more to their plans than people realize.

Actually I'm still sure they wanted to disrupt financial activities by damaging the buildings. When they actually collapsed (due to bad design) they must've been laughing their raghead a$$es off.

Like, the tallest buildings in New York... Didn't anybody concieve that a jet liner may one day hit a tower???

Markets wouldn't collapse entirely. They'd go down but they stabilised pretty soon after 9/11. Yanks waaay overestimate their influence on the world. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Actually America flooded a ton of their money into another countries Exchange just a few short years ago to keep it afloat due to the serious repercussions that would have happened if they didn’t.

You should do more studying on the matter and speak not from the heart and men blame us women for being so emotional.

If you would have heeded my earlier words you would have saw I said all countries with Exchanges.

I’m being nice here too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Which country was that then? Educate me please. Point me towards articles.

As far as I'm aware the pound has as much influnce as the dollar in international trading. The world would not collapse if wall street went down, belive me...

I must apologize for not remembering the exact details, but I do believe it was the Nikkei index crash that just recently happened, recently used as a relative term of course.

America poured a lot of money into it to keep things from going real sour and thanks to a lot of watch dog protections implemented; due to our 1987 crash catastrophe was averted.

Although it was Japans market, the US was also affected by the Nikkei index woes.

Frankfurt has a ton of money invested in US stocks, as does the UK.
As well as the US having a ton of money invested in many countries themselves.

All, I’m presenting, is that if one succeeds in financially ruining ANY country and their Stock Exchange then the world will feel its ripple effects. It doesn’t matter which country. The USA would be in a huge world of hurt if Frankfurt, Australia, or the UK was totally and financially ruined.

That is all I was trying to point out.

I was talking simple money vs. invading a country and you turned it into anti-sentiments and I don't go there. If I misinterpreted I apologize.

Like I said before, I don’t agree with a ton of things my countries leaders do, but and invasion of ANY Stock Exchange country would only financially hurt the world, if somehow the checks and balances failed and nothing is impossible.

You see Womble, I don't have the luxury you have; because I am an American.
Have you ever read the book "The man without a country by Edward Everett Hale"?
It's very touching <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" />

Strange that it doesn't work, since even Bush can rule America, and even he doesn't need a fish?
What would be his secret weapon? (I doubt that even he knows it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />)

As my teachetr answered on the queston what we europeans think of the president (when he was at a school in Warrensburg, I believ it's called. It's in the middle of USA somewhere, a really tiny town. I think it's bigger than Örebro, where I live, and we're placed somwhere 5-10 city in Sweden! (according to population)): We wonder whenever he's mentally handicapped or not. And seriously, we do. (Come on, he's not mentally handicapped. Someone else allways replies: Oh yeah?!?!? Are you shure??? No opne replies on that though...)

Maybe in ten Years ask the americans "How can this happens?
If the things going the same Way like before the election, maybe earlier.

Bush is an Terrorist, not better than Osama.

Look at the Iraqui People ... Non of the Iraquis has started an attack against the USA. There is no linie betwen Osama and Saddam.
The planning for this second Gulf War was started a short Time after the first one.
And the only Reason was Money and Oil.

Osama is an Saudi, an his Familie too. So why don`t ask the Saudis, where is Osama?
Maybe the Reason is, that the Bin Ladens are the best friends of the Bushs. And Partners in Buisness.

If Bush is reelected, so this is a great shame for the American Nation.
The first Time we can say nobody knows really what will be with Bush.
This is the second Chance to make it better, ey, the World will be see.

Bush says Freedom, and means the Patriot Act.
Oh yeah, the greatest democratic Country in the World.

Ube, many...many...many people in the USA / Americans wonder the same thing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Bush is our President for another four years.
Kerry has conceded.

Just note this, just because Bush won a State doesn't mean everyone in that State voted for him.
He just got the majority of votes from that State to win its Electoral votes.

Sadly Stone you are right in a sense on some of your key points.

All I'll say is read and educate yourself on "The Trilateral Commission".

It is not an American thing it's something else.
I'm sure you all, the wise, will figure it out.

~Oh yeah, the greatest democratic Country in the World.~

I understand it's hard to keep a cool head with what's at stake, but try to keep the discussion focused please, so it doesn't fall apart like the previous Iraq thread. If you insist on venting frustration, try to do it in a way that doesn't insult anyone <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Yeah I remember that now. Thanks. It was in the US's best interests to keep them afloat, nothing more. Where would they be without Sony? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I think we do agree that losing one currency i.e. the dollar would effect the world greatly. I think that it would recover though. We don't REALLY need it. The world has just become sickeningly dependant upon uncle Sam unfortunately.
I guess they do control 70% of the world's resources... How did this happen <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I'll have to look for that. I don't particularly tie myself to the US or the UK really. I hate both governments equally. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

I just heard that Kerry has given up... What a loser! In 2000 Bush never let it go until he'd won. The guy was like a jack russel with a tennis ball! Kerry didn't deserve to win. Gah! That annoys me...

Womble stands, irritated, haddock at the ready, waiting to give Kerry a good slapping. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
