I don't recycle. I'll tell you why too. No-one else bothers. You think in a country that said f-you to the Kyoto agreement and burns anything and everything to keep their 10mpg 4-litre V6 Hemmy Dodge on the road washing out a few bottles is going to matter??
The REAL problem is with industry. Most chemical companies I know pollute large-scale. No-one cares. We personally shipped off about 100 litres of flammable solvent for incineration last week. We are small too. In countries like China and India the problem is even worse. They have noone watching them! Regular dumps of Mercury, Lead and Aluminium waste go into rivers and seas all the time.
The actual pollution produced by a thousand regular households pales in comparrison to one factory.
As long as this goes on there is absolutely no point in recycling paper, plastics etc. You ever consider the recycling processes produce even more waste? Its not very energy-efficient and its of very small real benefit.
What we need to do is think SMART. Biodagradables are the answer. Use it, throw it away, let it return to nature. I use these whenever I can find them.
Power should be generated by solar means. You know every house could be self-sufficient with solar panels or a wind generator? (or both). Wind farms supply thousands of Kilowatts of power where they are allowed to be erected. People want to keep their veiw 'nice' of course.
