Two quests I have ready to solve, but have not because when I do I get a negative reputation bonus. I still get EXP, however.

The first quest is the poisoned fields one.. if I tell hugh I solved it. There is a slight pause and I get -4 to rep.

The second one is the elf parents that the boy wants you to save from the house. Another pause, and I get -3 to rep.

Neither set of people act upset.. they act as if I solved the quests properly. THeir attitude towards me improves afterwards as well. I'm guessing this problem is due to an unmentioned time limit between receiving the quest and solving it? That's my only guess.

Is there a way to edit rep so I may fix this?

(I have latest patched version btw)

Completing the poison harvest quest for Hugh should give +1 to reputation, and rescuing the parents +2. It seems the pause is taking 5 off your reputation for some reason.

If you solve both quests do you get the drop each time? If it is a one time drop you can probably just ignore it (there is no way to edit reputation, that I know of), but if every quest starts giving 5 less reputation that it is suppose to, that may cause problems.

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

ill try solving both in a row without reloading the save before solving. other quests work as intended.. it just seems to be these two. for the farm quest there was a gap of like 40 game days between receiving the quest and solving it. for the save family quest id guess about 10 game days between getting the quest and saving the family, however i waited probably another 10-20 days before actually looking for the family and boy after they ran off. im thinking it may be that i took so long it's counting things as failed.. but the quest log also claims i completed the quest successfully afterwards (and the dialogue as well).. ill try your two suggestions . thanks.

k tried solving the farm quest.. got -4, then without doing anything else i ran to the dad i saved and it gave +2 to rep.

if i visit the family first i get -3, then hugh will give +1. so each case i'm getting -2 net. maybe the game thinks my rep is too high for this point? im lvl 27 with 22 rep. have not gone off of the main area of to the janus area. maybe it has something to do with the order i've solved quests? are there quests i should solve before reporting these?

deleting the files in the folder didn't help <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I don't think there should be a problem taking awhile to solve the poison harvest quest. That is fairly elaborate, so most people take awhile to complete it.

Apparently the game thinks you need a -5 correction to your reputation. You can miss parts of the quest doing things in an unexpected order, but there is no penalty or previous requirements for either quest.

The merchants you trade with most often are going to have a 100% opinion of you anyway, so the drop is not be a big deal, as long as your reputation stays high enough that NPCs will still talk to you.
Reputation does not matter once you get to the wastelands, so you could wait until just before hitting the gong (to start the blessing ceremony) to complete these quests.
