thank you for the information, @Lar! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
i looking forward on the larians future projects.

that give's me another question.
which people are currently the whole larian team?
And what about the new ones?

maybe it would be a nice thing (in the near future) to make another larians profile like the below 10 one at www.locusinn.com <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kissyou.gif" alt="" />

Gameembryo ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

By the way, this is the first official information that there are at least two projects and that these are all in 3D. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

wow! irrational used gamebryo (probably different version from other devs) to make freedom force! i love that game! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

thanks, Lar, for the info. i can remember when Lar revealed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> & back then the hint was R..R..R. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" /> & yes, day dreaming while on work isn't healthy for my career. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Freedom Force was great.
I'm looking forward to the next FF game, FF Vs. Third Reich. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I can't wait to see what Larian does w/ the 3D Engine.

Any chance that the code would be 64-bit optimized <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Dunno', but they are using SpeedTree for vegetation, also:

We’re also happy to announce that we just licensed Speedtree to power the vegetation in our upcoming games.

if the code (game) is 64 bit optimized.
wouldn't that mean you have a 64bit operating system? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Well windows XP 64 bit is going gold in march. So it would be nice that in 2 years (divinty 2) 64-bit is quite common.

No it doesnt mean that you NEED a 64 bit processor.... it means it is optimized for it. In other words it will run 10x faster on a 64 bit. It will still run normal on a 32bit.

Has intel made a 64 chip yet? AMD has had them out for a while, I'm suprised at a lck of response from INTEL.

Intel released one about 4 months ago.... but was forced to pull it back, due to instability and overheating issues.

THey only have a 64 bit server CPU.... but for that price, i rather buy myself 8 AMD 64 bit systems, COMPLETE.

Intel is slowly losing the battle to keep up with AMD. If you benchmark some systems, you cant help but note a dramatic speed diference with games(AMD in the lead).

It was mentioned in another thread (my brain is too rotten tonight to remember where / when), detailing the strengths and weaknesses of intel / AMD.

the summary would be:
Intel is good for office applications ad internet applications. (how fast does your computer need to be, to cope with a 1Mbps internet connection??? - taking average speeds)
AMD is good with graphics and gaming applications. (now HERE i can use good performance)

The whole FX line of 64 mb chips ( the 51, 53, and 55 ) are all way ahead of all buy the
XEON
line I believe its called.

Anyways, thanks, I didn't know they had made one. Just like the x700 XT. Neve rheard about em, cause they're gone.

Intel HAD a 64-bit processor called Itanium. It was a horrible piece of junk that ran 64-bit code very fast but 32-bit code was a disaster they couldn't get 32-bit to run higher as the equivalent of a 1800GHz (could be more). So Itanium was scrapped (a few weeks ago). Also the Itanium was more for severs then for desktops. Intel will release an other 64-bit processor that is compatible with AMD's 64-bit. But Intel was seriously caught off guard by AMD's 64-bit processor.

This give for me the difference between Intel and AMD

Intel was always searching for ways to up the GHz of the processors while AMD was looking for ways to do more with a slower speed. Intel has trapped itself in it own public relations. Intel PR was always saying the faster the better. Well guess what, they have serious problems to get CPU at higher speeds. This while AMD was looking at things like 64-bit and dual cores and guess what Intel is also going with dual cores. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Intel has tried to optimise everything for numerical calculations (office applications / internet related application)... not thinking... that 70% of the applications that gets used on computers today, has NOTHING to do with that...

Most people run more graphics applications...
more GAMES
more applications using floating point calculations...

And yea, AMD had good vision when they started looking into bottle necks, and how to get rid of them.

Here is the link to the thread i mentioned before

INtel cares about the numbers, thats why there chips are called 3.8 ghz, 3.6 ghz, 2.4 ghz, etc.

While AMD care more about how it runs. Fx-55, you can't get how fast it is out of that if you've never heard of it, but its super fast.

My personal impression is that :

AMD - desktops, private users
Intel - servers, companies

By the way, in the game Jazz Jackrabbit there was a Planet called "Letni" ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />

have any of you played KOTOR (knights of the old republic) cuz imo that is the only game comparable to baldurs gate that i have recently played, i think the graphics engine in that would be good for divdiv2 although i do prefer the 2d isometric view

I have KOTOR, but have not installed it. BTW, KOTOR 2 for PC is due out next months, supposingly. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think if I was to compare a game to BG in looks, since it is on the same Infinity engine, I'd guess Icewind Dale series, even though I ain't played it.

But, I think PS:T and BG2 are like two of the best PC RPG's I've ever played. And we all know I loved Morrowind, also.
