yep the MB has all the bells and whistles.(linky )
As for DVD recorder I have a DVD writer in my old pc (No dual layer tough)
Yeah I rather have a better GPU but it's a strain on my budget. hopefully The prices drop so there might be a better upgrade in it. ( I will ordder it at the fourth of feb because then my exams are finished)
To start I'll not use raid, once my system had enough drives I'll migrate towards a 4 disk RAID 5 configuration. The other 4 drives will be in JBOD "config" .

I'll hear how loud it is and then I might buy some zalman coolers.

There is a Linux distro that is 64-bit optimised. And windows XP 64 bit should be released in Q1 of this year(that means prolly Q2). I agree there isn't that much 64bit optimised programs out there but if the drivers are 64 bit and the OS is 64 -bit will get you a long way. But it's only a matter of time before the 64 bit revolution takes place. It would be nice if mircosoft released it 64 bit OS cheaper then it's 32 bit OS to stimulate 64 bit development. But for some reason I don't think thats going to happen.

I'm looking at the Asus Nforce 4 SLI Ultra board too and the 3500.

I see 2 versions of it.

The Newcastle one and the WInchester one. The Newcastle is 1.3 and Winchester is .90 I heard the .90 is alot better, but its about 60 bucks more. That 60 bucks could be used to buy an extra 512mb of 3200 ram.

The .90 might be alot cheaper when I buy ( summer or maybe end of year ) But I guarentee I will be buying sometime this year.

Thanks.

I should check it but I believe when you use the 0.9 proces you have more room for stuff like cache.

Now whats the cache. I notice lotsf have 512( or 5 something ) or 1 or 2 mb? lb? gb? Something like that.

Can you enhance it after you buy one?

cache in Kb is super fast memory that in the chip it self. It's used to get information fast like for dynamic branch perdiction.

I suggest you read benchmarks to get a clearer vieuw of you CPU

I have been looking at them. And I noticed that they had a difference between the .90 and the .13. The .90 uses less power also I think.

And I found some cool water cooling things, but I have mo clue how to install them if I buy them, or even were to find them, I just saw them reviewed, oh well.

If you dont know how to install water coolers.... DONT.... 1 small leak and you fry your computer.... personally i hate water coolers....

I would rather buy Thermaltake's cooling units..... i overclock my 1 computer and it has never run higher than 42 degrees on thermaltake.... and i can assure you that poor computer's CPU ussage is on 100% for at least half the day every day.... (Video conversions takes a LOT of processing).

One word:

ZALMAN

Zalman coolers are the best on the market and they are silent.

Thermaltake has some pretty cool cases, I must admit.
Look expensive.

THey also have some cool fans/power supplies/water coolers.

I wouldn't be setting it up myself, there's a computer shop nearby where they will check your computer, or upgrade it, build it for you.

I'm still think that the 64 bit technology is not consolidated yet, but you'll be ready for the future O.S and i believe with this machine you'll not have to change it for 2 or 3 years. Unless they release something so new what you have to get one of it.

SCSI - RAID 5 - a very good dream.

Go on man, and buy your new pc, i'm started to think about to buy a new pc too, but here is too expensive, do this to you have an idea of the price here.

Do this calcule: ( your total price * 2,90 + 20%(store taxes) = my money to spend).

Wait, just looking around, and if I buy the SLI board, I can use to graphics cards.

Would I get better graphics with 2 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-133-129&depa=1

PNY 6600 GT's 128 mb 128 bit or maybe as MORBO is getting the Asus or other company 256 one but only a 6600. Would 2 256 mb one's be better then 2 GT but only 128 mb ones?

or for same cost

1 6800 gt 256 mb 256 bit

or a single

ATI X800 XL for 100$ less, but with 256 mb and 256 bit

Take in to account the ATI card isn't out yet but is suppousidly better then the GT.

I don't know if the 6800 reg can be SLI or if its as good as 2 600 GT's.

I'd love to build a

3500 64 AMD

1 gig of 3500 ram

2 pny 6600 gt 128 mb

1 seagate 200 gb
1 seagate 40 gb

1 rosewill 550 power supply

1 Thermaltake Dream Tsunami ( sorry bout the name )

and 1 Asus SLI nforce 4 case.

But its $1256 so I may have to compromise. Just a *tad* out of my price range. Unless prices go way down, or I buy in December.

I think I might be getting 2 6600's, but if I do ( or any other SLI thing), I know I need a SLI bridge chip to connect them. Where can I buy/get one?

The asus SLI deluxe MB has a connecter delivered with it since the two PCIe slots are far away from each other then usual.

As for the winchester core: uses less energy, can be overcloked more (up to 50%)
