Hey everyone. I'm relatively new to BD, and not having played DD, I don't know how that was, but I have a suggestion for the (problem?) of being too far advanced over the monsters. Just do what Diablo2 does: the monsters change to whatever level you currently are. Are you level 25? Well, you get to fight Level 25 monsters then. Would cut out that no experience gain thing ...and I think put alot more playability into the game. If you have to be on your toes all the way upto the last Boss/whatever, then the game would be that much more fun, wouldn't you think? Also, then you would need to be forever looking for better equipment/resistance things ...I read someone saying that they never bothered after a certain point getting better equipment because it was so easy to kill the monsters anyways. Anyways, thats my 2cents.

BD is devided into 4 acts, which relatively control the level of monsters.
If you are more advanced in rpg gaming techniques (other than changing your difficulty level), You can start avoiding the Battle Fields. I am playing on hardore mode, and only use the battle fields as a trading post.
Also the fact that you stop getting XP once you are 8 levels higher than the monsters, serves as a self limiting device for your char's level in regards to the area that you are in. So you are kept in relative level of your oponents in anycase.
What i did not like about Diablo2's idea of the monsters are the same as you, is that i dont think that a level 49 skeleton is very realistic... And also the game layout is so much different... Diablo2 you spend the majority of your time in dungeons, where every level gets more difficult... this is realistic.
But since BD and DD (By the way you NEED to get this... if you like Bd, you will LOVE DD) are mainly played above ground, it makes more sence to make some areas more difficult than others (which also keeps most players to the general story line, by making them go from A to B instead of from A to P and back to B).

Hmm, well I dunno Lady Rain. I'm currently at Level 7 and tonight I'll enter the 2nd level of the first Battlefields dungeon. I just walked through the first level like there weren't even skeletons there, they were that easy. I just don't want to be fighting alot of low level monsters -onewhack=dead- ..I just thought the monsters should sort of follow your level, just to keep the game interesting. The no XP thing doesn't really work for me, because you are still fighting low level monsters ...getting no XP for it makes sense, but having to fight it in the first place doesn't, IMO. I guess I just like to be constantly challenged and I'm not getting that in the Battlefields. Perhaps I should just go back to the main storyline? There are probably more powerful monsters back there, eh?

The battlefields ARE less of a challenge than the original champain. The only reason I cleaned them out was xp, and principes... They were kind of boring acually...

I agree with Ub...
The battlefields are there for the gamers that are not that advanced in fighting techniques. When i started RPG's i got killed by every 2nd skelly.... now i walk into the SAME game, with the SAME stats and survive scores full of them with ease.... Even on hardcore, i ended up only using the battlefields as trading posts... then after the main story line was done (for the act), i would go to the battlefields and just walk throught them mindlessly killing everything, just so i can finish the quests....

Well, yeah, Bfs are trading points for me too. I kept killing without getting xp their, that sucks! Qestion: would the monsters be more challenging if I enter into the bf at a higher level? Besides, the quests in the bfs are nor fun at all, no good stuff can be aquired in the bf, which is really a pity.

I dont agree with you on no good stuff can be aquired in the bf, which is really a pity. I found some REALLY potent stuff there.... unfortunately not quest related.... boost your luck on both char, and you will see the difference in the items you find... Unfortunately the battlefields wont be any more difficult no matter when you enter them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> thats why i just started avoiding them.... I went there only to trade and to kill a couple of monsters to get a DECENT amount of arrows for the main area again.

Well, I'm gonna go back to the main storyline. Plus, I think I'll go get DD just to see what everyone is talking about (everyone compares BD to DD ..). In DD you only have the one character and less skills, is that right? I guess that would be more challenging, as you would have to split all your points and stuff if you wanted a fighter/mage type or whatever. I dunno, we'll see. But if I start playing DD, are all of you on that game forum as well?
<== hopes so
In anycase I guess I need to go back and kill those 3 Stone Gargoyles I avoided like the plague getting to the first battlefield key. (they kept killing me!) But now my main character has some levels and that yit-iceri charm in some gloves so maybe I could just fireball the bleep out of them, eh? Heh ..plus my DK is now using a 2-handed sword with like 54-100something damage. That should also help.

You will love DD!!! My first words about DD was: "Oh boy!! Blizzard is gonna be so in @)#*($@# if this company goes big!!!"
A lot of people say that BD is not as good as DD (sadly i agree), but since i have both.... i play both, and i love both...
Hint: if you find DD too easy (i doubt you will find the orc areas easy) DONT use scorpion traps... they will make it a walkthrough..... but they LOVELY when you in over your head somewhere....

I agree, DD was fun, but I don't like the fact that once you complete the game then thats that. I hope that in DD 2 when you complete the game you can continue to travel round the map fighting creatures. Also, the creatures should respawn when you leave a set area, that would make the game last much longer and be harder as well.
