Larian Studios Forums General Chat RPG Chat I can't play vampire bloodlines

Ok. people I bougth vampire bloodlines and went to my house to instal it,
when I start the game, it says that i must disable all cd\dvd emulation in
order to play the game.

I got daemon tools, nero image drive and clone cd virtual drive........
I disable all of those and still got the same message..........
I uninstall those programs and with a registry editor clean the info on those
programs.........still got the same message..........YOU MUST DISABLE ALL CD\DVD EMULATION...........

I need help and fast........I do not plan on formating my pc for that

there must be some thing I'm doing bad, so I came here to you people for help.

please let me know what are my options

I found it, at last, I found it
I made a back up image in my hard drive and use the
VIRTUAL CLONE DRIVE 5.0.1.3 (freeware) and it worked.......

I finally can play vampireeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Was SafeDisc3 protecting that game?

B/c that piece of piracy protection is known to not let you play the game if you have the following installed:
CDClone (especially this one)
Alcohol 120% (especially this one)
Nero
Roxio
Daemon Tools

Some of the game protected by SD3 that I have heard given that error for "CD/DVD Emulation Software found", form what I know:
Sims 2
Painkiller
Doom 3

roxio? really?
that I didn't know.
I got it installed on my pc but do not use it a lot.
another game that have these same problems with cd emulation
is far cry but the last patch fix that problem( do not ask me how).

but, now that I know that I can play vampire with a cd emulation software,
I'm gonna put those programs again to see if it still works the same way.

Is it worth getting??? (I might not run to the store just because you say "yes", but it might end up in my "later" pile. Together with Wizardry 8, Gothic 1 & 2 and some others.)

Well if it is to get for the "later" pile then yes. it is a great game, but
I do not think that with all the great games that got out recently it is a
"must have right now". I mean, come on, there's metal gear solid 3(ps2), and for the pc we got half life 2 and the famous halo 2 for the xbox, (yeah,
I'know, off topic), but it is a great game if you like the first one, you're
gonna love this one.

Won't play HL 2. Don't like that kind of games...
