Rambus *like* a myth, yes, maybe. But thei're "still alive and kicking". I recently read about a new kind of memory module or controller they invented ...

I don't think it'll worth getting at the moment - I wont enjoy if I had to have every setting on low, and still have a choppy framerate in places, with no draw distance either.

Even though I liked Morrowind, I stopped playing that - think I'll wait - maybe get a better g-card in a few months.

guys, do forgive me for asking this if it's already mentioned somewhere. may i know - is Oblivion in first-person view or isometric or adjustable like NWN? i feel interested in this one although i hate Morrowind for being first person view (i get nausea in that mode).

if there is more than one mode/view other than first person, is it possible to play the entire game in the other mode/view?

thanks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

you have first person

then you can zoom out of your character at different degrees
but. you can not change the camera angle like nwn
if you do choose to zoom out, the camera will always be centered on the middle of you character directly behind him or her

do you need to zoom in to aim with ranged weapons or spells?

there is no cross hair to aim when you zoom out, unless you practice with your ranged spells or arrows when out of first person then it might be hard at first

you don't have to but its easier if you zoom in for ranged combat

sadly that means i cannot escape the nauseating effect of FPS view. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

i guess i'll give this one a pass.

i wonder if the demo is a good representation of the full game? if it does, then maybe i can download that one & try it out to see if i as well as my PC can take the game or not.

the demo should be a good representation of the full game if they don't leave anything out

look at the demo readme file to find out whats missing with the demo

My fundamental question still remains.

I hated Morrowind; will I enjoy Oblivion? In Morrowind, I followed the quest I was given, but I wound up stumbling around in the dark with no idea how to get where I was going with a combat system I didn't enjoy and couldn't master. Did Oblivion fix these problems?

The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

the main quests are straight forward, they even have markers pointing where to go next

the combat system is very much fun
medium armor skill has been merged with light armor

and axe skill has been merged with blunt weapons skill

im not sure when the demo is coming out

Isn't it pretty much click as much as possible until the monster dies? Might have been that I havn't played for long, but that's the feel I got. You can only attack in one way in oblivion (unlike Morrowind where you had three ways).

well how many other ways is there design combat for a game

i can think of only 3 (excluding turn based)

have a character with auto attack selected and attack the target automatic until its dead (diablo and wow)

Oblivion
judge the combat in real time and make decisions on wheather it would be wise to block the first blow(with a shield or parry with your very own weapon instead) against you thus having the enemy recoil leaving him open for an attack or hold down the mouse for a heavy damage move

blocking also decreases the amount of damage you take and it isn't random based upon what level of skill its based on wheater you decide to raise your shield or weapon in time

most enemies have different attack speeds with different weapons, progress in a certain weapon skill can lead up to more damage and knock back the enemy thus widing your stragety in certain desperate situations

in certain situations in the game you will be fighting alongside friendly npc and they will follow you in some cases. There will also be different factors like people shooting at you with bows and spells, you have to judge how to over come the situation or die

its fast pace intense combat, there maybe only 2 combat moves(that i can tell so far) regualr attack(maybe a left stroke and a right stroke) and power attack(a powerful downward stroke) but i still find it ok

i played fear on the pc its a first person shooter game
and there are certain keys that you have to press while moving to perform jump kicks etc

seems like my computer can handle oblivion (only 2 little bars away from recommended so thats good enough for me) and if i'm lucky i will have it in a few days.

EDIT: how strange: LotR:BfME 2 is (almost) the same as oblivion requirements. the only thing i fail for recommended is my videocard.

congratz!

anyway, the combat system is fun, not really really deep, but fun. You dont really have 1 way to attack, you can make power attacks and knockdown attacks and more if you get better. Those will be performed with a well placed hold click + left/right/forward/backward. Also, if you stay on your place you wont get far, you need to dodge others their attacks too.
