WOW Plague

Now most rpg have the "disease curse". But let's be honest most of us don't use it because it doesn't do that much damage or the infection rate is slow. I for one am glad WOW got the guts to create a decent "disease curse".

Blizzard adds in a new instance, Zul'Gurub. Inside is the god of blood, Hakkar. Well, when you fight him he has a debuff called Corrputed Blood. It does like 250-350 damage to players and affects nearby players. The amazing thing is SOME PLAYERS have brought this disease (and it is a disease) back to the towns, outside of the instance. It starts spreading amongst the general population including npcs, who can out generate the damage. Some servers have gotten so bad that you can't go into the major cities without getting the plague (and anyone less than like level 50 nearly immediately die).

GM's even tried quarantining players in certain areas, but the players kept escaping the quarantine and infect other players.

Now maybe it wasn't intentionally, but it shows why MMORPG can (at some points) be better then RPG's. The randomness and evil of 2 million human players is something you don't see in a single player RPG. I still like single player rpg's but realism and unpredictable events like these makes me wonder if in the near future I might go MMORPG .

I hope that they just don't fix it but incorperate it into a story. Like new players get vacin to ward off the disease and a cure can found by finding the ingredients or in the local shop or alchemist.
