Well I currently have an amd Athlon XP 2200+ and the mobo I wanted supports all amd ahtlon xp, athlon and duron processors (socket A) And also, I think my current mobo only supports AGP 4x while the new one would support AGP 8x, and I have a graphics card that works with AGP 8x. So it's not just about the ram, but also the increased speed the mobo itself would bring to my computer.

Oh and I have another question, can a motherboard with the nvidia nforce2 chipset still use ATI video cards? (might be a silly question, but knowing this could help a lot)
