I would agree to the preview post that the Sims is indeed a simulation and not an RPG. You may stretch the definition of RPG to possibly argue a case for it being included in that category, but it is certainly not like any other RPG out there.
In the original post, your quote says it is reminiscent of a challenging role playing game not that it is one to which I agree.
