I am fairly new to this game having cleared out most of the citadel in act 1. I have been playing alot of similar types of games (icewind dale, Dungeon seige, etc...) for a while and have developed a liking towards mages in all those games. This game however is a bit different in its skill progressions. I have searched through the forums on tips on building the characters but havent been able to find anything. If i want to make my main a mage and the deathguy a melee, what stats should i be adding to other than the obvious int for mage and str for melee? also, as a mage, i got 5 points into fire magic missle and stopped adding to anything else because it seems like a waste to add to say... ice (due to the insane mana requirements which add). As a melee i have a 1hand slash skill adding to dmg accuracy and deathly strike (not sure about the DS but added to it anyway) but i rather use 2 handed skill (which i cannot find in the skill tree). I have been looking at alchemy which has a few threads... other then that i dont really know what to add to. i have no idea really, i would hate to go thorugh say 3 acts only to find out that my mage wasnt built properly. I like to do my research in advance, and looking as some of the walkthroughs (not for content of the game but for character creation) i am unable to find any info on this.
