The 4 disc set....any thoughts about it, my daughter recently brought it home and I remember seeing somewhere some bad things about it...
this set includes
"4 Award winning titles...
1)...HalfLife game of the year edition,
2)...Opposing Forces expansion set,
3)...CounterStrike the counter terrorisim experience,
and NEW ...
4)...Blus Shift "the latest official expansion set" ......

I can't speak on the last 3, but I d have Half-Life. Very good shooter.

Though, I hope this packages doesn't have anything to do w/ STEAM. STEAM is evil.

Jurak I do not see a reason for getting all those old titles like Half-life, team fortress, opposing force etc. The only games you need are : Half-life2 and Counterstrike Source imo (you could try first half-life singlepleyer though if you haven't yet, it is fun).

Btw, how old is she? Do you have one kid?

MysterD What's wrong with Steam? I have it. Without steam I would have been forced to wait approximately three weeks to get the game, but with steam I started to play the same day the game was released.

@Egin no.......I have 2 daughters one is 18, the other is 19 the 18 yr old had a game in the glovebox of her car that a friend forgot......it happens to be Half-Life with the four (4) disc set......all I want to know is.........

Wow, your daughters are adult, my daughters are 7 and 2,5 yo.

As for HL, if I were you I just skip the whole stuff. Half-life was good, but it is old by now. There are at least two fresh and great looking shooters at the moment (Doom 3, HL2). As for Blue Shift, Opp Force, Team Fortress - theese are multiplayer only addons to Halflife, nothing special imo.

FPS isn't for me sadly, no matter how i want to play them. makes me green & puke.

talk about daughters, wish i have a daughter who adores me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> yeah, i prefer daughter to son. think i watched too many Ghibli films (Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro etc) plus hearing so many stories from those proud fathers how their dotting their daughters are.

what's the advantage/disadvantage of Steam? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> do u pay less or just as much? how do u authenticate? does it mean u can use somebody else's system to play as well?

The old half life is still great today, and you got it free!

Also the addons Opp force and blue shift are not mp, they're single player campaigns.

Install the first orginal game and give it a shot for half an hour...if you dont like it by then you might as well remove it, but I think you'd like it.

Just checked inet for opp force and blue shift. Sorry, I was mistaken about single player.

Jurak, Plowking is right, why not to give it a try, you loose nothing, if you don't like the game, there is always an uninstall option.

install it! at least the original half-life, it's a gem. This game hasn't been awarded 50+ game of the year awards for nothing (http://www.valvesoftware.com/awardslist.htm). It would be a hole in your gaming culture not having played it.

well that is a problem for me, dragh, since i can't play FPS. not that i don't like them, but once i play those games, i can kiss my appetite goodbye & suffer for hours later on. yeah, u can say that i'm such a lame gamer. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
