overpower i think means it will just be too powerful for the balance in the game.
There should be a certain level of difficulty, otherways it becomes a "walkthrough".
Having too much power too early in the game, just unbalances the whole game. It becomes too easy, and people will lose interest in the game...
I do think there is space for some really nice armour later in the game... like the dragon armour in DD

When I downloaded Razes fighter (lvl 45 at the gong) and got to whaselands, I invested all his skillpoints. One or two strokes at an imp and he was dead. And he hit REALLY fast. It wasn't even funny. Overpower means you have so much power you're unbeatable (like in Fallout when you'd got the powerarmor AND the plasmarifle. You needed one turn to kill a supermutant and they needed five shots to even HURT you (you were crittically hit for no dmg. The scar will be nice partytalk later in life...)).

how is it gonna be the 1st to thave that 'status' Lady Rain ?? Morrowind was also in 1st person Actually there were several before MW as well. Though most of them were DOS RPGs. Don't forget the other two RPG's before Morrowind by BethSoft that are in the same ELDER SCROLLS Series for the PC: 1.Elder Scrolls 1: Arena 2.Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall. I believe Wizardry series was all in First Person, also.

They are currently working on Divine Divinity II. It's going to be in first person. That's about all we know so far...
Wellcome to the forum !
Übereil They never said first person. They just said it will be in full 3d.

I also hope you are right lews...
Or at least if they want to make it first person, to also add a switchable view, for us old fasioned 3rd person lovers
I cant imagine having to go through a dungeon with fog in the distance (since my sight is still low at the time), and getting attacked from behind, and before i could turn around, the blood demon killed me Now that would be relaistic..... but just

I believe the graphics of BD are perfectly fine and beautiful. Unfortunately most self-called "marketing experts" don't believe so. Look hat influence the FPS games towards the whole gaming environment has : verything must be 3D , and extraordinary graphics, at least from their point of view. Which led to Simon the Sorcerer 3D , a game that couldn't have been released without 3D graphics (they simply found no publisher for it), resulting in a game that looks just ... not as good as it would have been in 2D, to put it mildly. In this case, the publisher's urge to 3D was a *heavy* mistake, but I don't believe Publishers won't ever say "excuse me, it was the wrong decision" to anyone. As it is currently, Publishers simply have too much might and power and simply use it to push their opnions through - no matter or good or bad it is for the actual developer. They consider developers rather as slaves than as equal partners (not to mention the customers at all), and that's the worst thing of all. If they would change at least this, everything would become at least a little bit better, because developers could develop like they consider it right, and not some self-acclaimed "marketing guru" sitting inside a publishing company having to bent under the bosses and co-owners of the company but ithout knowing that the gamers really want (only theorizing it). That's my opinion. Alrik.

I do think there is space for some really nice armour later in the game... like the dragon armour in DD In the Sacred Forum (remember, Sacred is an Action-RPG ! ) the people want more, better , eventually leading into totally overpowered weapons and items and armor. From their point of view, they just *need* totally overpowered stuff to kill as many enemies as possibly in the shortest available time to gain more experience. I even once (only a few days ago) read the post of someone who claimed that he "didn't understand it at all" and meant the concept of role-playing ... He clearly simply wanted to become more powerful and more powerful by gaining motre and more experience ... Action-RPGs as a simple game of might and power ?

lol not everyone has the depth of insight to understand RPG's.... for those people i suggest "click twitches" like Diablo (even 1 will do)... there are only 3 missions....
1. If mouse over become yellow, pick it up, it has money value 2. If mouse over become red, kill it, if you can.... 3. If mouse over become blue, pick it up, its magical, so it has MORE money value
lol i suppose most of RPG fans started our that way (now i am referring to YEARS ago... probably your first computer game EVER)... we didnt have the SKILL to kill tactically, so we wanted to be in "God-mode".. that was all that mattered.... i think in the beginning most missed the fun of figuring out how to kill the enemy.... we thought if we were stronger, we would be better.... not thinking like we do now.... if we figure out what they are vulnerable to.... and we can run away, and hide, and trap, and and and......
lol give them time... they will one day discover the value of balance.... when they are READY

I loved Divine Divinity's graphics, what was wrong with it? It was the best graphics I've seen ( to my eye ) in an RPG. Maybe just the style I liked.

I liked the graphics, too, but try to tell that to the publisher. (And that it will actually sell with these graphics. )

Yeah but seriously, why's everything have to be so 3d all the time? DD had beutiful graphics, listen to what PC Gamer said, " Crisp 2d graphics" ... "great looking 2d graphics looking better then some 3d in other games"
They were great. Thats not to say BD doesn't look nice, as I was remarking to myself yesturday, it looked good too, I just don't like it as much.
I'm not saying its not going to be in 1st person, just saying they've never said that .

I think the reason that most people prefer DD's graphics to BD's graphics (and IMO they very similar, since they run off the same engine)....
DD has nice green forests... the type that everybody likes.... BD is all grey and beautiful in its own crystal way, but most people dont associate with crystals... they associate with lush forests....
If you compare DD's graphics, with the DD wastelands, most people will agree that the forests were "better"... just because we tend to associate green forests with good fortune and happy times (or good in general).
I agree that 3D is overrated, because some uninformed pencil pusher of a pubhisher, recons that they cant advertise in BIG BOLD LETTERS what good 2d engine a game has... They will rather advertise that you need to be a millionaire with the best ever computer, just so that you are able to get past the installation of the game.... at least then they can put the big bold letters on the box
But i must in the same breath say that i am impressed with gamebryo.... and i think that Larian will be able to produce a stunning game with it...
What i have seen of gamebryo didnt look first person to me... so i think we are safe

Wow you guys! Lady_Rain yer ab so lute ly keerect there! There's nothing wrong...with the graphics in it's just darker, but the little side-trip to Rivellon in Act II brought a smile to my face, just like an old friend!
So now i need to be a millionare, with a super-computer to play anything, because everybody is trying to out-do everyone else, and forcing us to comply with the requirements needed, for that specific game, oh well i guess that progress....isn't it?
And Alrik.....who ever said you don't know how to write?? you certainly do so, my friend...
