I believe the graphics of BD are perfectly fine and beautiful.
Unfortunately most self-called "marketing experts" don't believe so. Look hat influence the FPS games towards the whole gaming environment has : verything must be 3D , and extraordinary graphics, at least from their point of view. Which led to Simon the Sorcerer 3D , a game that couldn't have been released without 3D graphics (they simply found no publisher for it), resulting in a game that looks just ... not as good as it would have been in 2D, to put it mildly.
In this case, the publisher's urge to 3D was a *heavy* mistake, but I don't believe Publishers won't ever say "excuse me, it was the wrong decision" to anyone.
As it is currently, Publishers simply have too much might and power and simply use it to push their opnions through - no matter or good or bad it is for the actual developer.
They consider developers rather as slaves than as equal partners (not to mention the customers at all), and that's the worst thing of all.
If they would change at least this, everything would become at least a little bit better, because developers could develop like they consider it right, and
not some self-acclaimed "marketing guru" sitting inside a publishing company having to bent under the bosses and co-owners of the company but ithout knowing that the gamers really want (only theorizing it).
That's my opinion.
