Most of the stuff i bought from ikea, is the type you assemble and leave alone after that.... (paintings, book shelves, wall mounted shelves etc) but none of those has ever broken.... my book shelves are also now 4 years old, and still good and solid.
I suppose it has a lot to do with WHAT you buy....
In South africa, lifts are set on sundays to stop at EVERY floor of a building, since its illegal in some of our cultures to work with anything electric / mechanical on a sunday (even cooking is forbidden on sundays in those cultures). They are allowed to do anything that does not require working with toold, using anything mechanical etc....
Or more clearly stated, on sundays those people are allowed to get into a bus, but not allowed to drive themselves to the shops. They are allowed to buy products, but are not allowed to pay by credit card (it requires them pushing buttons on a machine).
