For some reason, after my game just crashed, the resolution is set so low that the game looks like hell - everything is far too big and grainy on the lowest setting. But I cannot figure out how to reset the resolution so that game looks good again. It isn't an option in any of the game menus. How do I rest it?

ALso, I would like to install the latest patch, but I have no idea what version of the patch I already have installed on my game. How can I tell what version of the patch/game I am playing right now? I don't want to corrupt my saves.

There is a shortcut to the configuration program in the DD Start menu folder, where you can change the resolution (check the 'skip test' box to skip the test). Alternately, or to play in unsupported resolutions, you can edit the config.div file in Notepad (or any text editor), though there may be minor problems with the auto map doing this.

The game version is displayed in the bottom right corner of the main menu. The latest patch version 1.34 corresponds to the game version 1.0034A (original English release is 1.0029A; re-released versions may already be patched).
Updating or re-installing the patch should not adversely effect your saved games, though some bugs can not be fixed retroactively.

The same thing happened to me, and I have tried changing the resolution, but it didn't work.
