true, true. asian countries have one of the oldest civilizations, and are a rich source of material for developers daring enough to "think outside of the box".
i think bioware will hit it big w/ jade empire. that will surely be one of the biggest hits for the xbox, and i'm fervently hoping they will make a port for the pc. because it just looks so damn good. if it plays well enough, they've got another winner. they really got a good one out of china there.
here in my country, one of the biggest success has been a locally-made rpg developed by an independent developer, anito: defend a land enraged. anito in english means ancestor. it's been warmly-received by gamers and gotten good reviews from various gaming sites. it was even a finalist for best independent games awards in the u.s., i think. it's an rpg set against a historical background, the colonization of a country, and w/ some local mythological creatures to spice up the game.
it sure was a welcome sight from the usual goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls, i find in most games.
