Actually,
They ware Australian. Redbacks.
And they didn't really mate with other species. In Europe lives a close (but a lot less toxic) relative of the redback. Also in America you can find a relative of the redback... the Black Widow.
They only survived in warm spots in factories. And not for all that long. Most of that story was a fairytale. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

But it is a fact that agressive species from the south are invading Europe.
In south Italy fi, you better watch where you put your feet on the beaches. African scorpions are often seen there.

And also an African kind of ant. That destroys all other insects (including native ants to Europe) that crosses its path.
In some parts of suthern Europe they wiped out all native ant species.

In Belgian rivers you can find Asian crabs. Who are also a danger to local wildlife.

And so on and on and on...
