That's what my mom used to say.
Till one time I got home and she was frying those "rings".
She went like: "hey, taste these snack things I got at the supermarket, it's yummy."
I looked at the package and translated the Italian text for her.
She went: "no way am I eating octopus!"
Till this day she still doesn't believe me... but on the other hand, I never seen her buying or frying or eating calamares again.

It also reminds of a story about my niece.
