Where you found those startup entries , on the right of them, there is a bar (similar to a scroll bar), if you click on it, it will give you a description of what that entry does....

HM_Run is just where in the registry its loading... dont worry bout that....

as for the PtiuPbmd "Used by Promise Controllers to tell the drivers that the connected Drives should use the \"Write Back\" Caching. You can disable this if you don\'t want to use \"Write Back\" Caching or if you have ot connected any driver to your Promise Controller." so its fairly normal....

it might also be that you just go to the "wrong" places all the time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> or if you have java installed, that you dont have any security control over java (IE is like that), for firefox you can get a extension that blocks java scripts unless you tell it to allow it.

If you are not sure what a startup item is, go to http://startup.iamnotageek.com/ and type in the file name there... it has a fairly HUGE database.
