sorry i forgot to post an answer to the checksums

When you check for updates, next to the download updates button (to the left) you can select where to download them from... just select another one.... it should work fine.

The extension is called Noscript 1.1.3

With that installed, you can chose which sites to allow (safe) and which ones to block. (it has a S icon at the bottom in the satus bar)
