When Shutdown is selected the PC takes 5 minutes to actually close everything and start to shutdown.

Then, it doesn't shutdown, it restarts itself instead!

The only way I found to shutdown is to not login on the restart, and then select shutdown from the login box.

i have almost the same problem except no shutdown/startup mixup. takes almost 5 minutes to shutdown & this happened after my system did one of those windows auto-update. can't recall which one that did this but till now that is just the case.

cleg, i happen to use 1 button shutdown. maybe i need to edit the registry so it will kill all processes without waiting for responses when shutting down. warning: this move will also mean processes that are automatically killed off have no chance of saving their contents.
