hmm in regards to the update process with spybot, I had the same problems ... but I switched servers and the 1 located in Germany works without a glitch everytime <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Funny that, though, most of the US servers and the Australian server give me checksum problems .... maybe they have that firewal installed (read Morb's Post)
