hey Cleg, right now it can be anything.

symptom: the computer freezes.
symptom: BIOS error message -> Disc boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

that does sound like your BIOS setting went a bit wacky. but is that default setting? if your motherboard is a new one, even at default setting, your hard drives should be detected properly.

may i know if your storage HD is set as master or slave? which IDE channel? primary or secondary? what about your system HD?

another thing; how is the time or date on your BIOS? does your PC keep the time right? if let's say u switch off your PC at 10pm & u switch it back on the next day at say 8am, does the time lag? if it does, then u can just change your BIOS battery.

right now with only 1 symptom, it's hard to tell what caused the error. wish i can help more, Cleg. sorry.

The computer is 15 months old including the motherboard.
The storage HD is set as master. That sounds wrong to me; I am wondering if I should switch that around. primary IDE channel. The system HD is not on an IDE channel as it is a raptor--SATA HD.
The time does not lag.
Thanks.
