Vundo is doing the rounds again.... and its more nasty than ever....
it hides as a super hidden file... so even though your spyware removers can detect it in the startup lists... they cant remove it.... If you attempt to remove it and only do half a job (which is almost guaranteed) it kills your winsoc connection layers.... which means you now have NO internet connections.... and very little chance of fixing it without haveing internet....

before you even look if you have the vundo malware... download these 2 files (which you will need to remove and fix the damage...

Vundo Fix Utility

Run this utility... do a check and if you find any vundo - related files... remove them. After that, restart and run the utility again....

If you are sure they are all gone... make sure your internet (and email and download programs) work... If not... follow the steps below... and then run this utility to restore the original settings...

Winsock Repair Utility

Step 1. Delete the corrupted registry keys

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

3. In Registry Editor, locate the following keys, right-click each key, and then click Delete:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2

4. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

NOTE: Restart the computer after you delete the Winsock keys. Doing so causes the Windows XP operating system to create new shell entries for those two keys. If you do not restart the computer after you delete the Winsock keys, the next step does not work correctly.

Hope no one has this little bugget... but beware... its a nasty one....
