The problem is: newer versions use more memory or don't install a graphic interface like KDE, GNOME (this both need a lot memory to display a huge number of graphic gimmick) and use only the console, but this is geekish

If you have the chance to put memory into this system, then do it - 64 MB or 128 MB are better. I used a short time a similar system (Intel Pentium 133, 64 MB System Memory) with a Debian installed (only console).

thanks again, Xan. anyway, about Gnome or KDE, u cannot tone down the graphics to a minimum so at least u have some kind of GUI? so just console, huh? too bad, i guess.

is it possible if let's say i install linux with console only in that system then i access it by remote then control it from there? also with GUI to control it by remote? is that possible?

sorry for the silly questions.

@ Lady Rain & Al -> thanks for the heads-up. this thing looks very serious. i remember the first few minutes i got my system online (broadband) for the first time & without protection as i was about to download AVG Free Edition & Spybot S&D, i got this annoying little IEPeers sitting in the memory & choking the line. good thing i managed to download & update AVG & Spybot then obliterate that little bugger.
