Maybe he should first copy the files from the CD to the Hard Drive and then install the game. I had this problem once with oblivion, which not even wanted to initialise, reinstalling didn't work, but copying the files and then installing did the trick, very strange.

Because he plays multiplayer he automaticly has the newest patch, so that wouldn't be a solution. Does this problem occur in both the Reign of Chaos and in the Frozen Throne, or only in one of them?
