Zanzibar is an archipel of islands.
The biggest island is named Zanzibar by western people but is really called Unguja. From 1964 on it belongs to Tanzania. But only politically. Zanzibar is seen as a paradise. And Tanzania would love to get their hands on the money tourists bring in.
Zanzibar still has it's own president and parlament.
You can compare it to Australia - England. More or less.
Zanzibar is famous for spices. (one of the reasons why I like it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />) It was also the last country in the world to get rit of slavery.
And it was the scene for the shortest war ever. A war of 45 minutes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Between the English and a local Sultan.
