This fantastic portico doesn't really exist!

It was painted by Richard Haas on the facade of the Brotherhood building in
Cincinnati, Ohio in 1983. This is an example of trompe l'oeil ("to deceive the
eye") or faux finishes.

I like trompe l'oeil. My hubbie is an artist too and he can do this kind of things too, but not that big

Gal, if your husband can paint something like that he must be a really good
artist. Does he have any of his works on display at a gallery somewhere?

@ Shan
No, sadly enough there is nothing from him on the net. I will ask him to make some pictures from the paintings in the house, so I can put them here.
But you have to be patient, he is a typical artist, with the ups and downs. One day everything is good and the next day he can be depressed.
My first drawing I got from him, was a pen drawing from a little beggar boy with a small dog next to him. But the story around this drawing, I will tell you that in private if you like. It's still my favo drawing.

A long one, but a good one, Lady Sarah. Cool.

The sculpture below is viewed from its frontal view making a piano player upon his
piano clearly visible. The right frame, however, is a view of the same sculpture
but from the piano player's back and yet a violinist is seen playing his violin!

Stone, you mentioned there were other pictures of the piano sculpture. Are you
talking about the one that showed how the sculptor accomplished the illusion?

Termespheres are spherical paintings that involve the total visual environments
around us, everything you see from one revolving point in space. The spherical
panoramic views are conceived from inside the sphere but painted and viewed on the
outside surface of the sphere.
