Optional - except the Necromancers Tasks (which are no real "Battlefirlds" in fact).
From a balancing point of view I find the BFs quite good - in their intention - but they need to be improved, imho.
Too long are the ways to walk, and too big are the BFs in general, that's my personal opinion. Without the teleporter stones it wouldn't be fun, imho.
