About the funny little things in life. About sience. About "strange" things. About things that you have probably forgotten the next day, but that catched your eye.

So no, not about your hubby wearing same underwear for 13 days in a row. Or how he/she killed 6 deer with only one shot.
Save that for the legends topic. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Some examples:

-More boys than girls are born during the day; more girls are born at night.

-An iceberg contains more heat than a lit match.

-An ounce of platinum can be stretched 10,000 feet.

-The 'King Ranch' in Texas is bigger than the state of Rhode Island.

-When gentlemen in medieval Japan wished to seal an agreement, they urinated together, crisscrossing their streams of urine.

And another example
some animal facts

- A shrimps heart is in his head

- Spiders eat other spiders

- An ostrich’s eye is larger than its brain

- Penguins can jump 6 feet high

a very finite number for the Infinite:
1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 (approximative number of atoms in the universe)

edit: sorry i was messing up with the english/american notation
"." is "," or it doesn't make any sens!

A lightbulb produced in about the year 1900 and installed at a fire station in Livermore, California in 1901... is still in use, burning continuously as a night light over the fire trucks: Livermore's Centennial Light

The handblown bulb with carbon filament (approx. 4 watts), made by the Shelby Electric Company, Shelby, Ohio, has survived two moves and several power outages over the years. There was a public celebration of its centenary in 2001.

A person will die from total lack of sleep sooner than from starvation. Death will occur about 10 days without sleep, while starvation takes a few weeks.

and it is near as worrying for climate changes as human industry.

Belgium is the only country in the world where women dominate the ministry.

Got a parking ticket in Finland? Better just pay up - it is the least corrupt nation in the world.

Women blink nearly twice as much as men. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

- A lifespan of an eyelash is approximately 150 days.

- If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the
air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the
air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the
horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

- More people are killed annually by donkeys than die in air crashes.

nice Rincewind,

Those kinda "facts" are fun though.
And as your post proves... a lot of ppl really believe it.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I sugest all statues from now on should be hero's on pigs. They useally keep all 4 on the ground.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

-Some of the "hero's" who got a statue riding a horse... never learned how to ride a horse.

Hmm. I guess I need to be more picky with what I post. Ha Ha

Have to move on to strange laws in the USA.

-You can't plow a cotton field with an elephant in North Carolina.
(elephant insurance is way too expensive!)

-Under the law of Mississippi, there's no such thing as a female Peeping Tom.
(ok girls!)

-It is against the law to whale hunt in Oklahoma. (hmm not that many whales in the midwest!)

-In Idaho a citizen is forbidden by law to give another citizen a box of candy that weighs more than 50 pounds. (and Valentine's Day is right around the corner!)

-In Alabama, there is a law on the town's books against riding down the street in a motorboat. (hmmm)

I love America! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

In Victoria (not sure about the rest of Australia) it is illegal to change a lightbulb without being a qualified electrician. Think of the revenue raising the police could make if they enforced that!
