@ Lady Rain -> Once you find out about the blackholes for sure let me.
As for Chinese foot binding, I thought of the same thing, but I could never find
anything to really relate it to the ancient chinese artist.

So the search went on..... and on.... and on....until this morning I got a note
from Tsel giving me a clue, a link to a speciifc site. After reading it I think
we may have found our answer. Here is the link. Read the second paragraph.

Where does the word f*ck come from??????

It is actually an abreviation!!!! it stands for FORNICATING UNDER CONSENT of the KING!!!!

In years past people were not allowed to become pregnant without the kings consent.... (in the days of Elizabeth I and II).

No no no no no! And certainly not from the days of Elizabeth I -- she reigned from 1558 to 1603, and the word has been recorded in English since the 15th century. The etymology is apparently uncertain... Middle English, possibly of Germanic or Latin derivation... But it was not an acronym. (nor is "golf", nor is "tips" )

That was also something that abreviated to the word F***, but by that time the word already existed....

I have a book of midieval facts, myths, and habits... and i love that book to bits

One of the great things that Elizabeth I did was beg the nobles in a crowd to ask the king's consent, because failure to do so, resulted in either death or exile.

Elizabeth was concerned that the nobles would fail to reproduce and it would be the downfall of the country.

@ Rincewind

Please just dont tell me that the word SAD is not derived from Seonal Adjustment Disorder (S.A.D.) which was the term given to people in the UK who got depressed during the dark winter months....

Fact -> Only 55% of all Americans know that the sun is a star.

Fact -> On a clear night in the Northern Hemisphere the naked eye can discern some 5000 stars.

Hmmmmm, wonder who counted all of them?

Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest volcano in our solar system.

But I'm not suppose to know that. I'm suppose to be from earth.

Weel, this was all very interesting and I learned a great deal from it.

@ Shantara
But since you brought it up, I have the feeling that Lady Rain isn't from Planet earth.
I think she is from a unknown galaxy. She is here to study us and to see how quickly we learn about stuff. [Linked Image]

bit of info out.

Fact -> Jupiter's moon Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System, and is larger than the planets Mercury and Pluto.

As for real estate on the moon, I think I'll stick with Mars. It smiles at you.

Yeah. There's a star chart in their front hall pointing it out. I don't think it's visible with the naked eye, however.

Where does the word f*ck come from??????

GIVING THE FINGER
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous weapon was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew") Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset, and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French saying, "see, we can still pluck yew!" "PLUCK YEW!" Since "pluck yew" is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is also known as "giving the bird." IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO THE FRENCH TODAY! And yew thought yew knew everything! labiodental fricative....what the pluck?
