No, they didn't.
It's a result of no education, poverty, ....
All the bad things in life.
Population still is a big problem in China.
Now families are allowed to have one child.
So often in the provinces when the first born is a girl... It gets trown out (really) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />
and is left to die.
Becouse they need a boy to work on the fields and carry the family name.
