-The sloth (a mammal) moves so slowly that green algae can grow undisturbed on its fur

And it spends most of its life in the trees; it only gets down of it once per week to relieve itself.
On the groud, it's top speed is about 250 meters per hour, if nothing hurries it, it can go around at only 5 m/h.
Sloths are quite blind and deaf, and their smell is just slightly better (good enough so they can smell some rotten branches, though not always; it is common enough that they fall from trees because of that).
They sleep about 20 hours per day; some people who have put plastic plates filled with water on sloths'heads in the evening found them intact the next morning, still on the sloths' heads and alive with insects.

That is why I don't understand that an animal like this can survive the evolution.

That's whjy I like them. I even like them more when people believe that they cannot exist in an evolution.

I've found something interesting. To be allowed to quote it, I must include the first part as well.

Bill Wyman: Amateur Historian and Would-Be Archivist

This article is not genealogy-related but it does deal with history. I also found it interesting.

65-year-old Bill Wyman is an amateur historian and a metal detector enthusiast. He and a co-author have even written a book about using metal detectors to find historical artifacts in the British Isles.

"I've found 200 old coins, Roman brooches and an axe from 1700 BC. I've discovered Roman sites, all manner of 15th-century artifacts, all of which are verified by the British Museum."

Wyman says that he should have been an archivist. He is an extremely serious enthusiast, according to his writing partner. Richard Havers said: "It's true. He has such passion for the past. I got a call from him today with another 'great idea' and you have to say, 'Bill, let's get this done first'. He's mercurial."

Indeed, Bill Wyman missed his calling and did not become an archivist. Instead, he spent the past 40 years as a guitarist. He is a member of the Rolling Stones.

Human teeth : Calcite. It's a hard mineral. But there are much harder ones out there.

Pilows : I wouldn't call it a pillow. It's like a kind of miniature bench füor the head. I've seen Tut's "pillow" in an exhibition here in Bonn. It showed many items from his tomb, among that that "pillow".

I read that african people sometimes use this "bench" even today, because it lifts the head from the ground and thuis protects it from small animals, insects, for example.

The nose pad of a cat is ridged in a pattern that is unique, just like the fingerprint of a human.

A cat's heart beats twice as fast as a human heart, at 110 to 140 beats per minute.

Calico cats are almost always female.

Don't pick a kitten or a cat up by the scruff of its neck; only mother cats can do this safely, and only with their kittens.

The domestic cat is the only cat species able to hold its tail vertically while walking. All wild cats hold their tails horizontally or tucked between their legs while walking.

In 1952, a Texas Tabby named Dusty set the record by having more than 420 kittens before having her last litter at age 18.

Sir Isaac Newton, discoverer of the principles of gravity, also invented the cat door.

A cat will amost never "meow" at another cat. This sound is reserved for humans.

Know how old your cat really is. If your cat is 3, your cat is 21 in human years. If your cat is 8, your cat is 40 in human years. If your cat is 14, your cat is 70 in human years.

The oldest cat on record was Puss, from England, who died in 1939 just one day after her 36th birthday. (We wish we could have them all that long!)

The richest cat in the Guinness Book of World Records is a pair of cats who inherited $415,000 in the early '60s. The richest single cat is a white alley cat who inherited $250,000. (Now that will buy a lot of catnip!)

Cats can see up to 120 feet away. Their peripheral vision is about 285 degrees.

Cats are the sleepiest of all mammals. They spend 16 hours of each day sleeping. With that in mind, a seven year old cat has only been awake for two years of its life!

According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the heaviest cat on record was Himmy, an Australian cat, who weighed 46 pounds, 15.25 ounces in 1986. Himmy's waist was 33 inches! The previous record-holder had been Spice, a ginger-and-white tom cat from Connecticut, who weighed 43 pounds when he died in 1977.

"PSI trailings" attempt to explain a cat's ability to travel a long distance to return to their home. It is said they use the earth's gravity to determine "their place" in the world, and to develop the ability to return there when necessary.

According to myth, a cat sleeping with all four paws tucked under means cold weather is coming.

Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of mourning when they lost a beloved cat.

What are those little boxes on hair dryer cords? In the early 1980s there were about 18 deaths a year caused by hair dryers falling into bathtubs or sinks filled with water. Since 1991, hair dryer manufacturers have been required to include GFCIs on the dryer cords. The number of hair dryer related deaths has dropped to an average of two per year.

Why are sharks such good hunters? A shark’s senses are so acute it can detect the electrical impulses produced by the bodies of other underwater animals. The fact that water is a good conductor of electricity makes it possible for sharks to use this electrical sixth sense to hunt prey.

Do fish ever get struck by lightning? Because water conducts electricity, when lightning strikes water it spreads out along the surface. Any fish near the surface of the water get electrocuted.
