Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York.

History of the Memorial Day Holiday (U.S):
Originally called Decoration Day
Waterloo, N.Y. is considered the birthplace of this holiday because the people of Waterloo were the first people to proclaim a day on May 5, 1866 to honor the soldiers who died in the Civil War. They closed their businesses and placed flowers and flags on the graves of their soldiers. Flags were flown at half-mast.
Memorial Day Holiday was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Day first observed on May 30, 1868
Congress changed the observed Memorial Day date in 1968 to the last Monday in May to ensure a three day weekend.

I think it's interesting at how much attention people pay to this thread. I have seen some of the same facts repeated three or more times.

@HEF I read the whole topic before begining to post on it; but you know, it's probably more something about memory than about reading. This thread is pretty huge now.
We could add a brand new fact for sure: In this thread, X facts have been posted several times.

Some more cow facts:
Cows like to lay down 8 to 14 houres a day. They are almost constantly in a half awake, half asleep state. And almost never really sleep. In a year a cow will drink about 31,000 liters of water en eats about 6,500 kg of dry food. (There's no figure on how much grass they consume on top of that) In return it will produce 7,500 kg of milk. And also 135 cubic meter methane and 140 kg nitrogen (in gas ) Also in return you'll get about 23,500 kg dung and urine. Cows like to be in group. Isolated a cow gets scared and mentally ill. They can completely freak out. A healthy calf will be about 40 kg when it's born.
