We Germans have the problem to be bombed with English Slogans (Advertisements, you know). That's why English is quite common here - apaert from the fact that we can learn several languages at school (French, English, Spanisch, even Russian). The easter parts of Germany have a wider spread of the Russian language than the western parts, which lies in Germany's History (BRD vs. DDR).
I had one year Frnech, and I was quite bad in it, so I rather settled into English. It became my favourite language. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Later I learned Spanish, too, but haven't used it since about 10 years ago.
