You post because you like to spam Lews <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

The original topic was about adding and italian part to the forum, then it turned into a discussion about different languages, and then into tourism in belgium.

This thread is quite interesting.

To give you a very nice example...
What's the difference between hot and cool?
In USA some ppl will say something's cool while other will say it's hot. And they mean exactly the same. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Funny you should mention that. On the Digital Jesters forum, one new member was talking about how their boyfriend ordered "this hot game". Unfortunately, we all took "hot" to be slang for "stolen" instead of "great". I think we really scared her off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I tihnk the main diffrence betwee England, Australia and America isn't the language, it's the dialect. Every region, and even social classes have their own dialects and manerisms that they use. "Catch a flik" is slang, like "hot" and "cool". I'm sure I've confused English speaking people on the forums before using Australian mannerisms. Out languages are the same. They use the same words, structure and characters. It is just the local adaptations that make them look completely foreign sometimes.

Indeed, try comparing french from Quebec and France <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I once saw the option "Quebecois" in an online translator, and all this time I thought I was speaking french...

I was just laughing about Morbo's definition of "Belgian Tourism". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />

It's so sad and funny at the same time ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />

I'm awfully sorry that I overran so many countries ...
