There might be some truth to it. I see oblivion as a giant leap forward from morrowind. But morrowind felt to me like a walk sim. oblivion has resolved much of the morrowind flaw but not all. Their are times I still feel the morrowind vibe in oblivion. I am sure that after the main quest and some guilds I'll won't play it for a year or so.

Well, the German critic who names himself "Olnigg" and writes critics mostly over MMORPGs, has seen the same flaws Wazz talks about. Of course, Olnigg exaggerates things very much, but in the core he has seen many flaws (for example German keyboard settings being re-set to default EVERY game - it is simply NOT possible to keep them ! So someone already wrote a plugin for that - but a game shipped into German - partly not correctly translated, and the keyboard settings are reset every game ... how arrogant or ignorant must a company be towards internationalization of games ?)

From what I've heard, Oblivion is great eye-candy - but in terms of gameplay in some points even a drawback.

Morbo: I understand your point, i just get the feeling that in most games you start out with no gold but get a vast amount later on...too much in my view.

So to balance the ecconomics slightly, getting a job and getting slightly less gold wouldnt be too bad.

They just has to balance it more imo. DD1 was way too unbalanced. After a while you had an infinitive ammount of money. This was basiclly because you KNEW that everything you bought would be whorse than everything you found, so you only bought potions.

good of you guys to point out this more-than-common problem in all RPG games. We have the gold issue covered, though. Expect the unexpected - our solution will not appeal to all, and might be a hard thing to swallow, but it works, and it shines.

Can I guess?

No gold is used and you shop only by trading. 3 chain mail armours == 1 plate armour.

damm my merchant skill or personality skill must be low

I just hope this new super gold system doesn't discriminate against those who flex the law a little bit. You know thiefs.

My mind came across the idea of a progressive tax. The richer the person, the more there is to pay.

note on the save system. an autosave when you enter a dungeon or travel or are transported would be nice.

I'm currently playing Siege Of Avalon, and found out here's something uniwque to this game : You've got to find your way (home) !

I mean, it's like a riddle : You play to a great deal within a *huge* fortress with several staircases, but to get into sdifferent areas (there areas within the fortress are separated through thick walls), you've got to find the *right* staircase. Makes this game a bit into a riddle-game.

So in fact you've got to run around a bit and probe every staircase to see whether it leads to where you wanna go.

I haven't see this yet with other RPGs. Sure, you've got to explore here and there, but IÄve never seen a game so far that allows someone to proceed only after the right passage (here : staircase) has been found.

Uh ... I meant it a bit differently.

You play within one huge fortress, through several chapters of the story, and you can see the fortress on the map the whole time. But - only certain areas are accessible at a time. You begin as a newly-arrived soldier, and have to battle your way through the destroyed outskirts (outside the fortress. Then you return and seek information.

One Quest for example is that a king (yes, there are several kings within this huge fortress) has been poisoned. So far you have had access only to the part of the forteess where the soldiers live, and the area before the entrance, and the entrance itself. Now you've got access to the part of the fortess wherethe kings and their courts live.

One alchemist you asked about herbs (in connection with curing that poinson) tells you about a merchant in another area you haven't heard of before. You've got to see him and talk to him.

Now, you've got to check every staircase you know of to see whether it leads into that new area. One eventually leads into what I call the inner court of the fortess where you've never been before. There is the merchant.

With that deed - finding the entrance to the inner court - you've more or less "unlocked" that area for you, and can access it now from that on from almost every staircase. But only from then on, after you've actually found the right staircase or entrance.

That's it what I had meant.

I see...it does sound like fun though..like an rgp in a maze.

Maybe Damien will throw Lucien in some sort of maze and he will hae to get out.
