Wazz: Do you mean its bigger than <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> 1 Rivellon or bigger than the whole of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> 1 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Ok original idea..what about a horse and cairriage for intermediate areas and borrowing/paying for a steed for further areas.

After you reach your destination the horse rturns back.

Say that Joram doesnt like his healing business anymore and has started breeding lighting quick horses..so fast that an enemy cant attack them.

Handy!!!

Note:
Not used for fighting purposes obviously.

Just owning a horse like in Oblivion would be nice. Though I think you should be able to attack sitting on it.

Yes, it's too bad you can't fight from atop your horse, especially when you're on a road that's filled with highwaymen! Get off, get on, get off, get on...

Horseback fighting eh?

If so there must be advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages
the horse is quick/fast..you can usually outrun your opponents.
He can carry a heavier load than you.
He can kick your enemis with his back legs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Dusadvantages
The horses health is low and yes the enemies will seek to attack it in an attempt to dismount you.
The horse may panic and you may lose control of your steed!!!
He eats alot..so what are you waiting for..go and cut some grass/oats.

In Sacred, fighting from Horseback is possible, yes. And the horses and characters were 3D ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/exclamation.gif" alt="" />

So, if that's possible there, so why not in other games ?

Ah, by the way, I've just begun playing Beyond Good & Evil. I can highly recommend it !

What's unique with this game is the so-called "internet code" you get each time you save your game.

On a web site to the game you can insert the code and get a display of how far you've advanced through the game, which reminds me of the IQ-points in the Indiana Jones adventures. The difference, though, is, that the code contains not only the score itself, but also the number of gained prizes, photographed animals (actually very important to the game ! Whether you believe it or not !) and finished missions.

Also unique is, that with a certain height of score you gain access to a special mission through the web site, but I don't know how, because my score isn't high enough.

For me, it's one of the far most innovative games that appeared in the last years ! I can only recommend it !

Wazz: Right-O!

Do you expect me to say that you can use skills points to upgrade your steed/animal like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> did with summoning dolls ?

Maybe the steed gets experince/levels in his own way and you can invest in his own skill points.

A few skills for a horse(part of me is shaking his head)

Leap- take your steed and right click...this will disperse a band of enemies givng you time to attack them.

Rage of the hoof- (lol) Your beast attacks an enemy knocking him off the damm screen...stuns him for 10 seconds.

Speed of the Steed-( <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />)Increases your speed whic will help you outrun your enemies.

Mad gleam- You horse has the temporary ability to hypnotise an enemy with a glare of his eyes...

I suppose we ca purchase horse armour????!!!

Leather/chain mail or full plate.

Don't forget horse reputation.

If the relationship with your horse is bad, it will flee from the scene, break away and it will go trough fire to save you if your relationship is good.

Also have the horse reflect the hero's reputation. I you are a 'bad hero' your horse will darken and have mean looks (armor) while if you a good hero your horse turns white (superfast)

(think gadalfs horse Shadowfax vs ring wraith horses)

And if we are in the subject of hero stuff. I hope we are allowed to move freely and customise our hero as we see fit. I want him to feel like my guy/girl. (like what Will Wright said in the GDC)

Quote
People love to make their own content. They love to customize their experience. By way of example, he put up a slide showing his Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas character -- who wore a fedora and red-heart boxer shorts. His character was ridiculous-looking, but it made the experience custom for him. Players get a huge value out of content they make for themselves.

"Owning" the content in this way means that all the stories that the gamer creates are much more meaningful.

Putting two and two together, Wright concluded that there had to be some way where users could create content, instead of armies of developers, and a way to make a game craft itself around the user's contribution.

So I hope that this base is covered?

Why not have the possibility of telepathic connection to an aminal that goes beside you ? I mean not only horses, but also the almost ancient (in terms of Larian Studios <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> ) concept of "helpful animals" I vaguely remember having posted here once.

They can act as guides through unknown territory, as councillors, or even have can "talk" to other anymals themselves !

Let's stick to this example of the horse, but it could also go with dogs, cats, bunnies, boars, whatever : The animal notices it hasn't been in an area before, and telepathically "asks" current animals of that area (e.g. wood) about the place. They respond, showing the horse spots on the map. Water for drinking, for example, or very well known enemies.

Or it could call for help while in a fight : If the horse is attacked, it could telepathically cry out for help, so that other animals of the area (wood here) arrive for help and begin themselves attacking the enemy.

Another possibility could be to summon animals, to help the hero or the horse or both. These summoned creatures / animals are in no way connected to the hero or the horse, they just help, because they have been asked and the reputation of both is good (I wonder how they might be able to find out a human's reputation; therefore I'd rather use the horse's reputation, because it's an animal among other animals). Since they are not connected in any way, they disappear or run away when their health is low.

On summening dolls. I don't like a time limit or an area limit. I would suggest a hitpoint limit. A summening doll is ative till it's kill (damage inflited) limit is reached or is defeated. That way you don't have to summon them every time a want to cross great distances.

I hope the pauze button hasn't disappeard in the 3d conversion so that you can order your dolls around to attack a specific enemy. Or is <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />² giong to be non party based. I like both so, I'll buy it what ever you decide.

I believe the words were "ther will be an MP aspect in the game". But I believe they won't neglect the SP.

As for party based, I like to play as necromancer or with dolls, but I want to be able to control them exact. I don't thrust the AI to much. I don't want my skeletons or dolls to attack the main boss (they will be slaughtered) but the helpers (that they keep off while I finish the boss off). AI could never do this. but me and my pauze button could <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

But maybe the party can be made volentairy ("party" skill)?

Morbo and ALrik: Superb ideas there...me im out

I do think though that you have to look after your animal..be it by grooming it or feeding it or giving it treats..that could increase the rep of the animal.

Can the Steed be like the Saurus steed form Quest for Glory II: Trial By Fire? Whenever something would come to attack you your steed (Saurus) would be like: "GRONK!" O.O And You'd be like "What?" And then you'd be like "OW!" Cause your butt just hit the ground cause it threw you off to be eaten while it bolted for safety. O.o

Then after you won the fight you'd leave the area, then come back later and your Saurus would be there and it'd look at you and smile all cute and bounce its eyebrows at you whiel grinning stupidly. }:( . . . dumb Saurus . . .

PLEASE, I beg you bring back the succubus from <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> (see header between orc and DK).
skeletons, zombies. Loved the imp riders and imps ant the end of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />, most of the sewer lizards, DK, Samuel was nice, more spiders and gargoyles and that yellow moster with horns.

Didn't like the elementals much (a blob ow water , air ... :s )

Pesronaly I would love bears as enemies because we all know that bears are godless killing machines without a soul!!!
