You can trade items for goods when you don’t have enough gold.
The more Potions you buy in Aleroth the more they carry when they replenish their stock.

I would seriously advise getting one Feat of Alchemy so you can mix Mana Potions with Heal Potions by dragging and dropping them on top of each other one by one. Do this only with Equal size bottles.
When mixed you get a Restoration Potion.
One Restoration Potion is TONS better than a single Mana or a single Heal Potion.
