Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems saved game not loading

Hello: I recently had to reinstall DD on my machine. After I reinstalled, (also installed latest patched, which were also originally installed) I cannot see my saved game. It is in the saved games folder, but does not show up on the screen. HELP!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

I don’t know if this will work, but I had a similar problem once before.

Remove your old saved game you pasted in the save game folder.
Start up DD and create a completely new game and save it under a name different than your original save you wanted to use.
Close DD then along with your new save put the old one next to your new one.
Start DD again and see if your old save, shows up now.
This worked for me maybe it’ll work for you.

If memory serves I don’t think an actual folder has been created yet for your saved games when you first install DD.
I believe it gets created, after your first in game save while playing.

If that doesn't help, check the number of files in the save game folder (in '..\Divine Divinity\Run\savegames'). A new game should have 22 files, after going to either Verdistis or the Dark Forest it should have 27, after going to both it should have 32, after getting to the wastelands it should have 37, and after getting to the Black Ring dungeon it should have 42.

If you backed the save up firectly to a CD-R, make sure you select all of the files in the save folder, right click and select Properties, and then clear the read-only flag (checkmark in Win 9x, green box in XP). If you zip saved game folders before backing them up, they will not get marked as read only, so you only need to extract them back in place.
