On some things Obsidian used different software in the creation of KoTORII than Bioware did in the original KoTOR.
Obsidian dumbed down the games graphics and details a bit so it would run smoother on lower end machines.
Obsidian focused more on KoTORII’s story and RPG dialog than they did on the Arcade style of game play. In essence KoTORII is a truer RPG than the original KoTOR.
Playing a Jedi Sentinel is absolutely the best bang for your money when playing KoTORII and was the first Character class I played in KoTORII. I would suggest a min INT of 16 and a min CHA of 14 and then make sure your Awareness and Persuade is always maxed out. This will ensure you get the most dialogs possible without going to extremes. I am currently playing a new Character a Jedi Counselor and I’m building him mainly with CHA as his main attribute. At 8th level I currently have an 18 CHA and a lot of dialogs that I failed in Persuades and Influence before are opening up to me now. It makes the story even more interesting.
WIS is still very important in KoTORII, but Obsidian wanted to balance the game making it a truer RPG. Thereby giving the player more options on how to build their character, the player is no longer forced to do things a certain way to have an enjoyable game experience.
You’ll note implants are now CON constitution related. The higher your CON the better the implant level you can use.
You can cross class your skills now by choosing them as a Feat that way you only spend one skill point towards that skill instead of two.
When you are forced to play other Characters don’t just do the main plot if you can do other things. Mess around and walk around. For example B-4D4 have him talk to other droids in the other sections and have him talk to the guy you got the droid tech. credentials from. Play the game and see what happens if you don’t erase B-4D4’s Czerka ties.
That’s how open this game is compared to the first KoTOR.
