i must confess that i am not a big metal fan (not a fan at all, indeed) but to those who may be interested by metal female voices i will recommend Le Tigre

the band is more electro than metal and the DJ there one of the very best female in hardcore electro... but...

BTW: I'm looking for the name of a finnish metal/hardcore band... unfortunately all what i remember about them was that they were in the tour for the 20 the anniversary of the british well known magazine The Wire (2-5 years ago)...

anyone has a tip about that?

Hmm... Nightwish is finnish ...

@ Death: You didn't tell me that. And we were talking about Gith musich if I don't remember wrong. And I whanted albumrecomendations of bands I've heard of, not bands I knew all about. Apart from Joy Division and Sisters of Mercy I havn't heard any goth at all (unless you conut Cure).

I wouldn't say Nightwish is hardcore though.

Yes, you count the Cure because if you don't bloody count the Cure, you don't bloody count anything.

You are hopeless, Ubereil.

Here is a link to the The Wire Magazine 20th anniversary album. It has a list of artists that are on it. Hopefully you will be able to recoginize your band that you are looking for.

aah, well genres aren't an exact science but I would call type-O-neg. gothic rather Doom. Nightwish is bordering Epic.

There isn't such thing as "Epic" and Type O'Negative is not Doom.

Epic means that the lyrics have fantasy influences, very tolkien-ish. Type-O lyrics are sometimes very depressing, wich sound like doom to me. Offcourse it's also has gothic influences.

Bah, nobody cares what genre it is, just if you enjoy it or not.

I doubt you all like her, but I was always a Doro fan
ever since she was with Warlock to her now being solo.

Doro

Doom metal is Anathema. Ask any Goth about Type O' Negative and they'll tell you that Type O'Negative is goth.

If you start looking which band is epic and which is not, Iron Maiden, Cradle of Filth, Dark Tranquility, Finntroll, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody, Blind Guardian and a million and a half powermetal bands will be in the same cathegory.

I wouldn't say that Nightwish has much in common with Cradle of Filth.

Actually more about Type O'Negative, it's more considered a friendly parody of Goth by the Goth community. You can see it in Peter's "Count Chocula" accent, by the first "song" in October Rust, by their website http://www.typeonegative.net/ (click "Bio) and many other references.

It's funny because HIM, with all their cheesy "Will you die tonight for love" and "Razorblade Romance" songs is considered dead-serious whereas I love Type O' Neg and consider they have truly outstanding songs.

I wouldn't class Cradle of filth as Epic either, I mentioned epic with nightwish since some songs do have those influences wich came with they keyboards ex-Furthest Shore wich also had the Fintroll vocals. Epic to me is Raphsody, Epiclore, Kayzen. If you would look up Epic metal you'll come up with more names like Valhalla X-calibre Isengard Aragon Rivendell clearly inspired on tolkien. And other fantasy tales.

Did you read the Thread on the Type-O-Neg site where Peter explained why his pants look like American Postal Worker pants?
It might be part of the Archives section now.

It's pretty funny.

Yes, sadly After Forever discs are very rare and very expensive.
I heard that Sonic Cathedral has reasonable prices, though.

You may download After Forever's cover of Iron Maiden's "The Evil That Men Do", which I uploaded (for advertizing purposes, of course), to Gmail.

That sounds so good!!!
Thanks a lot, I never thought about using my gmail account this way...

But why are After Forever cds so rare?
If there are people who want to listen to their music they should be able to get the cds easily...

The CDs are rare because After Forever is, sadly, one of the less known bands.
Look at the prices on Amazon.com:

Invisible Circles (Limited Edition) [IMPORT] (Audio CD) - 28.99
Decipher [Sweden Bonus Tracks] [EXTRA TRACKS] [IMPORT] (Audio CD) - 51.99
Prison of Desire [IMPORT] (Audio CD) - 31.49
Exordium (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD) - 18.99

All prices are in USD. Exordium seems less expensive but that is because Exordium is something between an album and an LP: it has six songs, one of which is the one you just heard.
