This thread is the continuation of the discussion which started in the Illusions topic.

As I was saying, some of the best metal bands with female vocalists are Within Temptation, After Forever, Nightwish and Lacuna Coil.

Those bands (except Nightwish) aren't as know as Evanescence so you might listen to audio samples.
To listen to Nightwish, click on the "MP3" link to the left of the website.
To listen to Lacuna Coil, click on the top-most link and go in "Efforts" to see the list of albums.
To listen to Within Temptation, watch the movie of "Memories" (RealPlayer) linked in the news post.
To listen to After Forever, go to "Downloads" and "MP3s".

Did you know that Within Temptation's singer is a fan of Ayreon? and that she sang on "Into the Electric Castle"? She has a very beautiful voice.

Of those 4 bands, Within Temptation is my favorite, though I like them all.

I prefer After Forever to the bands I've mentioned. I love them all but Lacuna Coil and Nightwish do not evolve: most of their songs are alike, unlike After Forever and Within Temptation.

Well Nightwish did change their sound quite a bit with their latest album.

I actually like Evanescene, but I heard some live recordings and they were really bad....
I really like Nightwish and Within Temtation, Lacuna Coil is also good, but I don`t know many of their songs, only "Dailight Dancer", "Heaven`s a lie" and "Unspoken"....
I`ve never heard of After forever..is it good?

Have you heard of L'âme Immortelle ?
[Linked Image]
They aren`t very famous in Germany, but I really like them.(You can download some of their songs legally on their homepage)

Have you heard about "Leaving you for me"? It`s a duet a german called Martin Kesici and Tarja from Nightwish.....actually a very good song, but I don`t like the voice of the German....

You can watch the video here.

Do you know any other good bands?

Loads of good bands... Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Cure, Interpol (acually a band who didn't peak back in the 20:th sencury ), Metallica, Dire Straits, Smashing Pumpkins, Velvet Underground (don't own any records with them, but my brother does), Deus (see previous), and more and more and more and more and more...

I liked "Within Temptation" a lot and "Sisters Of Mercy" and "Dire Straits", but only if I'm working. For relaxation I'm more in to New Age. I have loads of cd's with New Age like Spirits Of Nature 1 to 6, Pure Music, Enya, Oliver Shanti & friends, Adiemus, Clannad, Enigma, Massive Attack, Elbosco, Sacred Spirits and so on... Soundtrack of Braveheart, Last Of The Mohicans (Clannad), The Mission (By Ennio Morricone), LOTR etc...
I'm not able to put in a link, but if someone can please do. It's such a calming kind of music and so easy listening.

DATD if this thread is devoted to female/male metal bands then I assume it can be endless As for female bands then I strongly recommend - Coptic Rain
Strong music, but beware it is depressing. If you want to hear it and can't find it, just let me know.

Cate Bush is super but she is not a metal singer.

Most metal is depressing, but for some reason it always makes me smile. Probably because I don't pay much attention to the lyrics, but just to the music itself.

Sorry but except for Metallica, what you named is Goth-rock, rock and alt-rock.

Frank would agree with me when I say that the singer of Sonata Arctica has an amazingly powerful and emotional voice.

Yes I agree, Sonata's singer is truly awesome. One good example of this is the song "Broken". You can hear a bit of it here first one on top.

Happyflower didn't mention what genre she was looking for...

And Death, those were nice albumrecomendations, but to be honest, they weren't really what I was looking for... (If you wonder what I'm talking about, thios was a part of a PM-conversation.)

Edit: And since we're into good bands, why not add Lamb? They're good. And so is Doctor Kosmos (sp?), but they're Swedish, so you have probablly never heard of them...

I`m always searching for some good music...

Do you know Alter Bridge?
It`s the former band of Creed with a new singer, the album is called "One day remains".
I really like their music, my favourites are: Open your eyes , Burn it down, Metalingus, Broken Wings and Watch your words.

You should get the Electra Soundtrack, Alter Bridge, whom I just love, Have a new song out called Save Me, wich features more of Marc Trimonti's contionously improving skills and more vocal power.

My favo Alter Bridge song would be Shed My Skin

I am surprised to know you know every single band I reccomended to you.

Maybe, but the did speak of mostly metal bands.

Happyflower: L'Ame Immortelle is very good! If you like it, I would reccomend you Cruxshadows. It's darkwave, I don't know if you like it.
After Forever is a strong band. Their albums are very well recorded, for example for their cover of Iron Maiden's "The Evil That Men Do" you'd think it is recorded in a cathedral. However After Forever, as I already said, is expensive because they are hard to find.

The Electra soundtrack is very much like the Daredevil or The Punisher one.
Evanescence, Strata, Finger Eleven... Funny!
What do you think of Strata, Drag?

A) You did not tell me you wanted Goth reccomendations
B) Why the holy dog biscuits do you ask me for music reccomendations if you want me to reccomend you something you already know?
C)Tiamat is goth. Nightwish is Goth Metal. Lacuna Coil is Goth rock/metal. Anathema is Doom/Goth. Type O' Negative is goth. VNV Nation is goth.

Can I listen to some songs of Cruxshadows or After Forever somewhere?
If Cruxshadows is like L'âme Immortelle I`ll probably like it, because L'âme Immortelle is one of my favourite bands at the moment.
