Do your summoning dolls have any problems, or just your hero?
Try picking up an item and then moving it in your inventory (or using the Give To command from a summoning doll), to see if that updates the weight message, or start picking up barrels until you actually are encumbered, then drop them. Try buying or selling something from one of the BF traders.
