The averange supermarket can sell booze, as long as it's under 3,5 volume %. Otherwise it's sold by the state (to outrageous prizes, that's why it's popular to go to Germany to buy booze ).

That's just it, Ube.
A lot of beers in other countries are even "stronger" - contain more alcohol. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
In Belgium those are "table-beers". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Beers brewed to drink with your food, like water, soda or cola. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

But you shouldn't feel bad about the laws in Sweden. Like I said... you're among the most healthy people. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
And it wouldn't hurt if all European countries got so strict. Only last week there was an issue on increased alcohol abuse among women in Belgium.

We have those too, Seth...

When it comes drinks with alcohol in it, I think we have just about the same drinks as other countries. You can buy those beers you have for dinner at the supermarket, and the heavier stuff at the system (the system company). So, beers with more than 3,5 % alcohol is sold at the system.

That's what I ment Ube
It's restricted there. Overhere (almost) any kid can walk into a store and buy (almost) anything he/she wants.
We don't have regulasitions like in Sweden.
It's the shopkeeper who decides. No ID required.

I know you have the same drinks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> (been to Sweden <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />). But the higher prices + the strict laws on (imported) alcohol + the id control on it keeps children from buying it. (-We don't have that system, like you do overthere.) And it also decreases the sales to "mature" people.
It's a good thing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm not attacking Sweden. Just opposite, I wish more countries in Europe would dare to follow. Alcohol (and drug) abuse is becomming a big problem in Europe rapidly.
You should be proud of it. Not defending that you too can buy it when you want. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Oh, I saw in an English Shop (there's one in Cologne) a funny book about the Germans ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> Didn't buy it (why should I ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> ) but I do remember it dealt with clichés in a funny way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

If you want to know the most common clichés,
all you have to do is watch the Simpsons. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

The clichés we use for our own country men,
usually have [nocando] words following.
Like you DUMB [nocando] or
You need a swift kick in the [nocando]
and so on etc...

just don't tell Europeans. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

McDonalds has a hard enough time making it here as it is.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

And the 70's show. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> Wonder if anyone in Europe knows it.
good call.

They've sent That 70's show in Sweden <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. Everyone but me liked it...

And Seth, before you glorify our system too much, know that all my schoolmates (allmost) drink, and have done so for several years (not like they're alcoholics, just that they drink). I can start buying beer in supermarkets in two months <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. (Not that I'm going too though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />.)

An 80s show would be quite famous here in Germany ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

No law ever prevented anybody from drug-abuse...

What does this has to do with alcohol?!? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

Well, Do you think, alcohol is better than drugs, just because it's not illegal? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

On the other side, in Switzerland you have to be 16 to buy Beer or Wine and 18 for stronger stuff. Shops have to be careful or they could get punished e.g. lose their licence...

Alcohol is better than drugs because you get a hangover. I don't think it is as addictive as other druge either. And I have a feeling it takes more booze to be drunk than to get high ie it takes longer. This is why I think alcohol IS better than other drugs. By this, I don't say it's good though.

You have to be 21 years of age to buy any alcohol beverage here in America.

It depends on the alcoholic beverage. When you drink e.g. a bottle of Tequila fast you will get really pissed in no time... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Fortunately I'm older than 21 and so I can buy legal drugs everywhere around the globe... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

We call Tequila "To Kill Ya"
because it leaves you with a huge nasty hangover. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

Tsel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Ya = is American slang for the word "You".

It looks pretty funny.
