I'm here! With you guys on our ghosthunting!!
Don't forget Shan, with an airballoon you don't go that fast as on a plane

About those ghosts, I think there are plenty of ghosts in England. Lots of people were killed for no reason, just like in Ireland. I have found a great historic tale about one of the most boasted and notorious buildings of England.
The History of The Tower
It's quit interesting to read more about it. [Linked Image]
And while you are at it, I can tell you about the 6 wives of Henry VIII? One of the cruelest rulers of England. His first wife Katharina Van Aragon was actually his brother Arthur's wife, but before they consumed the marriage, Arthur died and Henry married her. After several miscarriages and having stillborn children, she finally got a girl. Her name was Mary. (Bloody Mary later on)
But Henry wanted a boy, and he never appreciate the fact that he had "just" a girl. (more details about this divorce, read the link below)
In the meantime, he met Anna Boleyn,so he got tired of Katharina and got rid of her. He married Anna but she was a very furious and hysteric person. The King decided to accuse her from adultry with her own brother and she became one of the most famous people in the Tower.
After her executing ( they chopped her head of) Henri met the lovely Jane Seymour. She became the woman of his dreams. But sadly enough, after the birth of their first son, she died in childbed. She gave birth to a son, Edward. The ministers arranged a 4th marriage with the German Anna Von Cleef. Henry, who was used to fine women, he got a real German in his hands now. This strong and firm woman was a bit to ugly for Henri, he even called her "his German mare", so he divorced her. Lucky woman, she didn't got accused from adultry or anything!
He met another beautiful girl, she was only 18, Catharina Howard. After only two years of marriage, she was accused of adultry with Thomas Culpeper, and again she got executed.
At the age of 49, the King married Katharina Parr. She is the only one who outlived the king. At the age of 55, King Henry died. She died a year later. In his will there is written that only his 3th and his 6th wife are recognised has his wifes.
For more details read The six wives of Henry VIII Symbol of Tudor house [Linked Image]

So, guys I hope I didn't bored you to much with this story? It's one of my favourites.

Keep working at it, you've got to know more than that by the time we get there.
There are to many things about use this for these people and use this for those
and don't use this for certain ones and I get confused. I'd have everybody in
Scotland mad at me. Around here we don't have all of that. I'm going to let you be my translator.

You aren't going to desert us once we get to Scotland are you? I pick you as our
chosen guide around Scotland and you had better have some good places picked out
to show us. I want to see some castles, some ghosts, some art, some bagpipe

Catch you in Scotland.

Uh Gal, how long are you talking about? Can we add a jet engine to it to go any
faster?

No, no, no, not in the water.

[Linked Image]

Oh great, Gal, are you sure this ballon trip was a good idea.

Oh, no, not a traffic jam in the sky. Are we ever going to get there?

Well, at least we landed and everybody was OK.

You have to admit Shan, you can land upside down with an airballoon and still survive but can you do the same with an airplane? If I could I would go around the world in an airballoon. That way you can still see the world beneath you! I had the best trip ever with you guys on board!!

Let's get going!! [Linked Image]
We are on our way from Plymouth (our landingspot) to Southampton, then Bristol, London and Birmingham and finally we end up in Manchester (for the big game). Is everybody ok with that route? That way we stay a bit everywhere and If someone gets lost, just look at the map and you find us back.
There is not much to see in Plymouth, but we have to stay for the night. I think I got us a fine restaurant with a room for all of us. Welcome at the Queen Anne's Eating House ! [Linked Image]
Eat and drink as much as you like, just remember, tomorrow morning, we have to get up real early to catch a train to Southampton!
Enjoy your dinner and sleepwell!

Ok, I can go for that route as long as we get to visit my haunted castles and
abbeys along the way. Is Queen Anne's Eating House haunted?

OK Shan, you make sure that we can stay in one of those haunted castles.

I was recently told that earlier in this thread that there was information that
was not correct.

I would like to apologize for this and say that I hope no one was offended by
the incorrect information. Even though Gal and I are just playing around neither
of us meant to intentionally misquote actual facts or historical information.

I was not told exactly what information we misquoted so I can not add a
correction, but I would ask that anyone who finds information in this thread
inaccurate, misused or offensive to please let us know so that we can change it
or apologized and remove it.

Again I am sorry for the misleading information and hope that you guys will
accept our apologizes.

Ok, we are in Southampton now. This the Weather Forecast.
[Linked Image] I hope you all brought your warm coats with you? [Linked Image]
Here we can see how long we have the light and when it's time to go out for the night! [Linked Image] There are some pubs in Southampton to warm up!!

City of Southampton, England

The city has entered the new Millennium as the region's leisure and cultural capital. With major international events, many new pubs, clubs and restaurants, a massive injection of Lottery money to improve parks and sports facilities in the city, and the region's principal arts and entertainments venues, Southampton is the South's leading leisure destination

Southampton is a major centre for learning. The University was founded in 1952, and has been joined by Southampton Institute, Europe’s principal Centre for Oceanographic Studies and Southampton City College. The city also has ninety schools.

Southampton’s parks make it the Greenest City in the UK.

The city covers an area of 50 square kilometres and has a population of 215,000 people.

Southampton is a thriving modern city but you don't have to explore too far to discover its amazing past. [Linked Image]

Below the modern streets can be found evidence of occupation from prehistoric times to the present, including important Roman and Saxon settlements, and the late Saxon and medieval town and villages that laid the basis for the modern city and suburbs. The unique location at the head of Southampton Water early on became an important trading post and later a port.

Large parts of the centre of Southampton were destroyed during the Second World War. However some important medieval buildings and structures survive, along with buildings dating to the 19th century redevelopment of the town. Southampton's heritage attractions include the Maritime Museum, Medieval Merchants House, God's House Tower Museum of Archaeology and the Tudor House Museum and Garden (currently closed for restoration), and a superb length of medieval town wall.

Southampton has important archives, collections and other sources for local and family history research. The city also has a unique Oral History Unit, recording the memories of local people.

Common guys, don't let the weather get to you (especially Shan) and let's go for some sledding!! Woohoo!! [Linked Image]

AND they have a semi-sucsessfull footballteam called Southamton (city, I think, but you never know. Don't know if there are more teams too). They're in the premiership for the moment (struggelling in the bottom). Latelly they've had some Swedes in their team, like Anders Svensson (now he's moved back to Elvsborg, his original club), Mikale Svensson (with the nickname "Killer". Currentlly injuried ) and more.

Just an idea.
Maybe you can go visit spick in Exeter. Rougemont Castle is worth a visit fi. Find out about the witches. There are also still parts of the Roman wall that used to surround the City.
Take a look in the pub named after the famous Judge Jeffreys.
Or take one of the regular "Red Coat" tours of the city in the summer. Those include some of the ghost stories as you tour through the City.

Maybe spick can be your guide.

Milk, water, yeah right guys. We believe you.

So this is Southampton. I always wondered what it looked like. Huh, what? Gal,
what do you mean where have I been.

Well, would you believe that I was kidnapped by some little green guys that took
me aboard their spaceship and took me to Mars? Uh, no. Well then
would you believe that I was in this large room searching for a secret passage
and someone shut the door and locked me in? Not that either, huh.
Uh, let me see. Oh, I know. I was investigating these strange rock
formations that I found and when I rubbed against one, a passage way opened and
some people came out and tied me to one of the slabs and was going to sacrifice
me to their god. *Gal gives Shan a hard look* You don't believe that
one either, huh? Oh, well, at least I tried.

Truth is I didn't go to bed when you said we should all get some sleep. I found
some travel brochures on the desk in my room and saw this really cool spot and
went exploring on my own. When I got back you guys were gone and I've just now
been able to catch up with you.

Sorry. I won't do it again. Well, at least not until the next time.

Well!!! That's it!! No more disobedience!!
I've found this in one of the cellars of the haunted castle we stayed in. Since there was no one around to ask, I just took it with me. [Linked Image]
So, be carefull when you decide to egnore bedtime again!!

So, let's see what there is to see in Southampton.
[Linked Image] In common with many British towns and cities, such as Coventry and Plymouth, it was heavily bombed during the Second World War. Many historic buildings were lost as a result but the old city walls remain, as does the Bargate, formerly the main gateway to the city, located at the northern end of the walls. There are numerous large parks in the city centre.

Too bad that soo many buildings were destroyed in WW 2. But the few that are still standing are worth to see.

Übi, that one is for you!

Southampton Football Club (a.k.a. the "Saints") [Linked Image] is also based here. It was a Southampton team member, Charles William Miller, who founded Brazil's first football club. [Linked Image]
Southampton F.C. (originally St. Mary's YMA) is an English football team, nicknamed The Saints. Based in the city of Southampton in Hampshire, the team was formed in November 1885. In 1898 the team moved into The Dell, the ground which was to be their home for over 100 years. However, as a result of poor stadium capacity, the team moved to St Mary's Stadium in 2001.

Their finest hour was their FA Cup win in 1976, when they beat Manchester United 1-0. They also were the runners-up in 2003 against Arsenal and runners-up in the 1979 League Cup final against Nottingham Forest.
I hope that will do for your football hunger?

Now we have to stay together, we are gonna visit the birthplace of Benny Hill 1924-1992 Comedian,
[Linked Image]
Name: Alfred Hawthorn Hill
Birth: January 21, 1924
Birth place: Southampton, England
Death: April 18, 1992
Cause of death: Died of heart attack alone in his apartment.
Occupation: Comedian
Left Handed
Height: 5' 10 1/2"
Marital Status: Single - proposed twice
Didn't own a car
Net worth: 10Million pounds (1988)
Buried: Hollybrook Cemetery, Shirley, Southampton, England

After a few hours, Jurak and I are thirsty, so we stop at a local bar and go for one! drink.[Linked Image] Shan, Übi, Hap and everyone else decide to go souvenir shopping. IMHO, we have to see soo much of England that the souvenir shopping can wait. What do you think Jurak? A pint or some lace or another porcelin statue that goes up the addic? I knew you were a man of reason.

*Shan smiles mischievoudly to herself as Gal stands there telling about the whip
she abducted from their last haunted castle excursion as she makes plans for
later.*

Hey, who is this Benny Hill guy anyway? I've never heard of him. Comedian, nah,
still haven't ever heard of him. Famous, couldn't be. I have no idea who this
guy is. Why Gal would want to visit some unknown's birthplace I have
no idea.

OK, everybody I have an idea. Why don't we go see the Southampton Docks. The
Mayflower sailed for America from here and so did the Titanic, but sadly the
Titanic did not make it. We could even visit the Titanic Memorial and the
Pilgrim Fathers Memorial.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

* That night after everyone is asleep, Shan quiely slips into Gal's room and
snoops around. "Hmmmmm, wonder where she could have put it," she thinks to
herself. She open a draw. Nope, not there. She opens another draw. Nope, not
there. Then looking across the room she sees some things piled on a chair and
see the end of something dangling over the arm. Quietly she walks over and
moves some packages and ther under them she finds the whip. Smiling she picks
it up and quietly slips from the room making sure the hallway is clear and
that no one is watching. She then slips back to her room and hides the whip
so Gal will never find it. Then smiling to herself she crawls into bed
and sleeps soundly until the next morning.*

Anybody interested in visiting the Isle of Wight since we are as close as were
are when we finish seeing Southampton. Sounds like it has some great haunted
places to visit. Plus we could visit the Old Village of Shanklin and Godshill.

[Linked Image]

Shanklin old village, which lies at the bottom end of the High street, has a range
of delightfull gift shops and tearooms amongst the many thatched cottages.
