I know two places I want to go while we are in Germany. I've been looking at the travel guide.
We have just got to visit Hameln
Hameln town is delightfully situated in the broad Weser valley between two hills, the Klut and the Schweinberg. Hameln is famed as the city of the Pied Piper and on every Sunday in the summer months at 1200 hrs there is a re-enactment of the story. The old town has many half-timbered houses and buildings in the Weser renaissance style. The town is delightful to walk around or to do your shopping.
And we have just got to go to Externsteine to see these standing stones.
Situated just before the town of Horn - Bad Meinberg. This is a Stone Age settlement (pictured left), where the ancient Germans worshipped the sun. There is a group of bizarre shaped rocks which can be climbed. The highest being nearly 40 metres high. The rocks were once the centre of a pagan shrine and later a place of Christian pilgrimage. There are some pleasant walks around this sight.
Now who did you say was going to be our guide through Germany, because I am packed and waiting for the rest of you.
