Hey Shan! Great hat! And great new ava too!
For the dodecaëder, my bet would be that it is simply a symbolic (cultural/decorative) object, not nessecarly made for a practical purpose. If it is has a practical function of some sort, then I would say that it could be used as a measuring or drawing help tool. As two faces are always lined with each other and that there seems to be different sizes of circular holes in every face, if you place the object between a light source and a plane perpendicular surface (a wall, the ground, etc.) or if you put the source of light inside the object, it can project a circular pattern of light on the surface, like the principle of the stencil or shadow projection techniques. Those projections could be used for technical or calculation purposes, or simply for aesthetic effects. But I agree with the girls that it would help if we knew the size of the object, and if we could see all the sides of the the object (to know if really the circles on each sides aren't the same size, if there is a face that has no circular hole in it, if there are those little shperes at every pentagon corner. It's an interesting device. When we look at discoveries like that, it is often impressive to see how advanced some ancient societies could have been or how sometimes a person could be/have been visionnaire and in advance on the people of its time. If you like things like that, then you might be interested in the story of the Man-nen Dokei; a clock that was invented a century and a half ago and that has just been understood.
Well, if you're ready to leave, I am too. Just let me pack my things and it will be ok. I hope the others will show up before we leave or they'll have to join us at our next destination by their own means...
Just tell me when we go! Fille
